Damn that part with the two shields was amazing. I know a lot of games do stuff like breaking the 4th wall in certain scenarios to immense the player more, but this is the first time I've seen a game make AI break an established mechanic that was designed to normally guarantee a fail state.
Is that shield part scripted as in are you destined to fail or can you successfully knock both shields and not see the sequence?

I don't think it's actually scripted, it's just that there are so much enemies that there is no way that you could push both down.

If getting caught is the only outcome then it is scripted since things happen according to a script.

Not necessarily.

Can you elaborate? That's like saying a movie isn't scripted despite it saying "character gets caught" in the script.

I mean unscripted as in there is no directive that forces the enemies to grab you after you push one of the shield guys. They just use their regular routine.

But yes story-wise it's "scripted".

Its pretty interesting to see how the experience can change the perspective of a "scripted" event.

I actually made the enemies drop their shields (as long as they're not holding them Trico can attack) and THEN Trico jumped into help, so I didn't really get a "WHOA WHAT HE CARES ABOUT ME SO MUCH" feel from that moment of the game. There's still stuff later on in the game that reinforces the bond, [sp]to the point that you'll have another "Trico goes to save you despite scary eyes" moment later on, no matter what[/sp] but yeah, it definitely was possible to make them drop the shields.
