NEW ORLEANS -- A 57-year-old New Orleans man was accidentally shot and fatally injured by his wife who mistook him for an intruder, police said Monday.
The shooting occurred about 11 a.m. Monday (noon ET) in the 5800 block of North Claiborne Ave. in the Lower 9th Ward.
Police said the man, named by the Times Picayune newspaper as Charles Williams, died at the hospital.
No charges were immediately filed in the investigation.
The newspaper said the man's 53-year-old wife was not arrested.
The Times Picayune reported that the Orleans Parish district attorney's office is expected to review the case, quoting a news release from a police spokesman, officer Garry Flot.
Williams' daughter said the family was too upset to talk about what happened, the newspaper reported.
Anyway, I gotta stop coming to this section of the forum. Nothing but sad news. :(
Ah, shit. I can't even describe how shitty this is.
A man dead, with no one at fault, really.
-You know what, Ill just snip this and hope FlashFireSix does the same to the quote, I did not come in here to start a debate. Thanks
I hope this won't cause gun control nuts to freak out and want ALL guns banned from use in homes in America, they actually do serve a good purpose of defending oneself and ones family - it's just situations like this that can make them seem a bit "eh" and have people get negative thoughts about gun ownership.
4, yep, literally 4 posts in and you've started the gun control debate.

Analyzing......Please wait.
Wow, that's gotta suck.
RIP
How do you not recognize your own husband.. when its the day?
Sad news, but not comprehensible at all.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't 11:00 am morning time, with plenty of sun light and visibility?
How can someone mistake "body" with an intruder?
If it were 11:00 PM, I would understand...
While I feel bad for her and their family, I will say that it is at least somewhat suspicious that she managed to mistake him in the middle of the day.
The article is far too vague to really weigh in on this. We barely know the circumstances of the incident at all.
Arrest the bitch
She managed to do this in the middle of the day? Sounds like there's either foul play or a massive level of negligence here.
Sounds like utter BS, murder covered up, or she is the dumbest person on this planet.
Man comes home early for lunch, finds the wife involved in something sketchy(possibly involving the family dog and some peanut butter), she shoots him so there are no witnesses.
That's what I think happened. No one accidentally shoots their husband in the middle of the day.
