Dubbed "carbon farming", researchers say the idea is economically competitive with high-tech carbon capture and storage projects. But critics say the idea could be have unforeseen, negative impacts including driving up food prices.
http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/science-environment-23518879
"Driving up food prices" ..By supplying more fuel? That makes total sense in the world of corporate malfeasance.
Go nuts, guys. Anything that lets me enjoy my V8s and curbs CO2 emissions at the same time is something I can get behind.
I was designing last year a tower that would both yeild crops, as well as act as a solar and wind power plant using hydrophonics, but i didn't have to design so much, so my professor cut it to one part.

We really need people to be designing such things.

Farming is honestly one of the main contributors to the declining health of the ocean and lakes.

It's like this analogy.. Why have a store that's 1000x1000, when you could do 100x100 ten times? Stacked on top of each other. So not only the tower be both energy efficent, it would be literally 10 stories of plants and turbines, with solar panels on top and the sides of it. It would rotate with the wind too. It'd be extremely incredible to see especially here, where it's mostly desert. Oh, and the stories would be independently rotatable as well.

You could have a robotic system on the ceiling/in the tank that collects plants and harvests them from the blocks.

TheDestroyerOfall could in fact be the one who saves us all. (sorry, I like your idea though!)
TheDestroyerOfall could in fact be the one who saves us all. (sorry, I like your idea though!)
I'm the hero this world deserves, but not the one it needs right now.

I'm a guy but you know, we'll find a way.
Driving up food prices? That's a price that I am willing to pay for the earth to live.
Driving up food prices? That's a price that I am willing to pay for the earth to live.
as long as it isn't an absurd amount

good combine this with nuclear powered ship-based distilation plants, and you are good to go!
