I really love the design of that Jet.
Sounds like a fucking X-wing (in a good way).
Sounds like a fucking X-wing (in a good way).
Well all the sounds in the OT were created from real noises, they may have sampled noises from jets of that era.
Well all the sounds in the OT were created from real noises, they may have sampled noises from jets of that era.
What you said is true, but contrary to popular belief the sounds weren't sampled from real life jets:
The TIE Fighter sound IIRC was wet pavement mixed with an Elephant cry.
Cameraman did a really nice job of tracking the jets with the camera.
Sounds like a fucking X-wing (in a good way).
X-Wings have a much high-pitched whine paired with a low bass humming sound though. i don't recall them roaring like jets, not to such an extent anyway. they probably sampled jet engines for scenes where the starfighters are banking/turning though
I really love the design of that Jet.
To an ignorant civilian like myself, it looks exactly the same as all the other F-XX's
To an ignorant civilian like myself, it looks exactly the same as all the other F-XX's
I can see that
I really love the design of that Jet.
The F22 still manages to be cooler though
To an ignorant civilian like myself, it looks exactly the same as all the other F-XX's
To me the F-35 is fat. Just faaaaaat The body is as wide as an F-22 but the plane isn't as long. It has a lifting body design so it can carry 2,000 pounds more ordinance than even the A-10. She's a sleek but fat bitch

I realized that when I had Fokker 50s and C-130s flying overhead constantly on landing approach and they sounded almost exactly like X-Wings. I'm not sure where the constant (i.e., not flyby) sound comes from, but it could be pitch shifted turboprops at idle or something.

Do they fly these everyday? I visit England often and I might check this place out next time I'm there.

Stop body shaming the F-35.
I really love the design of that Jet.
Shame it's riddled with technical problems.
Shame it's riddled with technical problems.
pretty sure this is a meme founded on misinformation and armchair bandwagoning at this point
Shame it's riddled with technical problems.
This is no longer the case. The F-35 program is running fairly smoothly nowadays.
You say the F-35 is fat but I think she's THICC. I want to get all up in that cockpit and plug up the intake and exhaust :quagmire:
That is a mean sounding jet. Very cool to see them up and running. [editline]...[/editline] Here's another one if you want, OP.
Do they fly these everyday? I saw these fly past on thursday, I think on the way to Wales or coming back, either way it was fucking LOUD as shit and cool to watch.
Shame it's riddled with technical problems.
Sorry that your toy didn't make the cut so you have to buy ours instead
Sorry that your toy didn't make the cut so you have to buy ours instead
Actually, the British program was pretty damn advanced for it's time, it just got set aside because of the Eurofighter. The P.1216 would've given a rather Harrier-sized supersonic VSTOL. admittedly without many features the JSF program incorporated such as a full low-observability design and the sheer fucktonne of sensor fusion. You can bet your arse it would've been cheaper however.
looking at all of these i'm just as impressed with the photography itself. there's some damn nice framing and tracking in these shots, assuming they're not all crop pans makes someone who doesn't really care about jets (me) find a bit more interest as a result
The TIE Fighter sound IIRC was wet pavement mixed with an Elephant cry.
I assumed it was from the Avro Vulcan.
