Long story short, great game with amazing physics, only downside is lack of real-life cars(although this is changing), real tracks, and obnoxiously slow rate of client updates. LFS also offers great amounts of suspension, drivetrain, and aerodynamic adjustments. They currently offer 3 different versions of the game;

(also has rally racing although it isn't noted in the pictures, some servers have mods which allow you to RP(lol) among other things)
Some people don't feel that S2 is worth the money but it's good fun with the right people. If you don't want to drop the 40$ on S2 you can try the demo online with others, or drop 20$ on S1 and upgrade later. Online play is restricted to only those who own the same version or lower as you. IE: S2 can play/host with S1 and demo, while S1 can only play/host with other S1 players and demo. As an S2 owner, when playing with S1 or demo players you are restricted to only using S1 or demo tracks, despite you owning S2. This is because you can host both an S1/demo server.
The online community consists of foreign 12 year olds with stupid skins but if we can get a group of ENGLISH speaking facepunchers with mics, I am willing to share our private vent server for goodtime funs. Other fun activities include joining the RP(cruise) servers, going over the speed limit, and allowing your awesome driving skills to excel those of 12 year olds driving police cars. This usually ends in you getting banned and/or them ragequitting.
I'm not gonna sit here and bullshit you about how you have to buy a 300$ racing wheel to be competitive, using mouse-steering is more then welcome and offers more then enough control over your car. Anyone who says otherwise is a stupid bitch. Regardless a racing wheel really does enhance the experience and those are welcome too.

Now for the Ventrillo server, you can join under the following circumstances;
A. You speak english somewhat
B. You have a decent microphone
C. You promise not to share the IP with anyone unless I allow it
D. You own S2 (still thinking about this one so don't worry)
Q. You aren't retarded/a known troll
If we max out the slots I'll buy more, organizing a game usually consists of joining the vent server, then bitching at someone to host a listen server/join a public one. We aren't the type to host a dedicated server that will only be used 10% of the time, listen servers are easy to host and they don't require many resources.
To get the vent IP PM me or any admin(or find me on steam). If we start getting squatters I'll just ban everyone and that's that(minus those on the lists below). Don't fuck around with this.
Admins
Edberg
Apocolypsox
Blaster
Unbannable players
~
Disregard all of this if you don't plan on hanging out in vent, use the Steam button to get in touch with other players.

(some thread content shamelessly stolen from shogunner)
also please don't do something stupid like getting this moved to the video game forum or some shit, this is for the AAA forum, not those fags
Game relies too much on getting good setups rather than actually being a good racer.
It's not too bad though.
Gonna start playing it when I get my G27 in the mail :3:
I have it and play on occasion.

not really, this is only the case on that oval map
the game is okay but it lacks ZAZZ
[editline]13th January 2011[/editline]
it is fun to make springs really hard and shocks really weak and car really high and to do donuts
does this increase ZAZZ?
http://lfsmods.com/2009/12/tweak-for-lfs-z28/
apperently works in mp if the server has it
Oh man I was somewhat big into LFS back a few years ago... do you guys play it online or something?

If you have a shitty mechanic and a shittily set up car, do you think you would even be able to compete in a real race?
No.
Me and edberg spent half a day once modding two identical cars just to see who would win in the quarter mile. I think he won in the end, but we got damn close to each other. Much faster than stock setups.
that was fun lol
Gonna start playing it when I get my G27 in the mail :3:
And guess who got G27 today :smug:
I preffer Street Legal Racing Redline, not online though.

rofl
its fun to dick around in but you cant play it seriously
a mix between SLRR and LFS would be awesome. Maybe also TDU so you have real roads and one huge map to play on
tdu with lfs physics, controls and modification and sl modification
and proper race cars and tracks as well as more street cars

It's always fun to stick a twinturbo v10 into a golf and see what happens in that game
We should make a "Facepunch Drift Night" or something like that sometime. Just a suggestion.
Played this a few years ago, and loved it. Learning to drift and master it was awesome.
I'm gonna buy this soon.
I'm going to get in on this when I get home from work.
[editline]3rd March 2011[/editline]
Facepunch Race Nights could be awesome. Also, does anyone know if rFactor is any good?
good
rFactor is awesome with the right mods, yeah.
rFactor's response to the g27 is very bad imo
Used to work fine with my G25 and even better with the Fanatec GT3RS now, took a while to find the right setting though.
so, is the vent always empty or do you guys actually play this?
vent is full of my personal friends, but blaster and apoc play lfs among other shit
also gmod rally
[editline]4th March 2011[/editline]
we also talk about car stuff
[editline]4th March 2011[/editline]
we play on a "we feel like it" basis
over-organization ruins shit imo
is there anyway I can get in on this when we feel like it stuff?
I miss having somebody freindly to race in lfs, everybody is so serious and gets butthurt if you accidentally touch their car at all
good because we tend to rally the shit out of road races on foreign servers
add me on staem
