I'm trying something a little different here. The script is either a paraphrase or direct quote from two reviews on the topic of the safety of energy drinks. You will find that I am basically reading out parts from these two papers with some bridging and clarification. These papers are linked below as free, full text articles. You can read them, follow the links to the sources cited, and even feel free to email the authors.

I'm sure I will be accused of all sorts of bias or fear mongering, but for the record, the views expressed, while they align with my own, are the views of the experts at the Johns Hopkins School of Medicine and UT-Houston School of Medicine.
Many people have asked me to cover this topic, but it's pretty far out of my area of expertise. That's why I'm relying on these expert reviews.
Like anything that can be harmful it's best in moderation. I remember when Far Cry 2 and Fallout 3 were released I went to the store and bought a bunch of junk food and 8 energy drinks. By the end of the night I had drank each of those drinks and felt like dying early on the next morning. My heart was acting weird and I felt extremely wired, my urine was also a neon green; needless to say I crashed a few hours later. That is something I haven't done since, in fact, I don't even like the taste of most energy drinks now.
No bro energy drinks are the cool teenager's drink and you are cooler if you drink it because YOLO.
That people see nothing wrong when they go "Oh shit the energy effect is wearing off and I'm fainting here, gotta get another drink fast" baffles me (and so does anyone thinking they need energy drinks to get through the day without falling asleep).
anyone who abuses energy drinks are dumb as hell
when I was school someone that was thin had heartburn and said "must be all the monster I drink" OH WELL NO SHIT

they're falling asleep because they keep abusing crappy drinks and don't know what it's like not to use them for a week
caffeine is shitty as hell. alot of interesting points made here, there should be serious warnings on all high-caffeine products. you gotta stay away from that kinda stuff or it'll take it's effect later on in life.

Generally they see it as cool. It's fucking badass when the heart starts acting up due to too much energy drink.
And yes, they get energy drops due to being used to being high on energy drinks. Couple that with fucked up sleep schedule (I'm not talking about going out on Friday evenings, I'm talking about doing it every single night) and shit diet, and you have a recipe for disaster.
It really annoys me when I see little kids drinking monster or some other shit. If there's anyone who doesn't need 60g of sugar and five coffees worth of caffeine, it's them.
I drink one or two a day and treat it as my coffee. I often drink one when I'm about to do some programming. Coffee for me has too much of an effect and I don't really like the taste of it either.
I think the limit on caffeine in energy drinks here are 32mg per 100ml. The biggest can you can get here is 500ml, so the limit is 160mg.
Im caffine hyper sensitive, a few sips from an energy drink give me a fucking powerful headache among other things. A whole can would probably kill me.
Also the Red Bull HQ is cool as shit holy fuck

one or two cans of energy drink? heart attack ahoy
wouldnt that be expensive as fuck too
From my experience, it doesn't have a big negative impact on you if you drink them at a normal rate. I drank Golden Power everyday and after a while i got chest pains (more specifically my right lung) and lot's of pain in my stomach. I decided to leave them alone when i puked right after i drank one, i felt like i was dying from the pain. It's now a month since i touched them (let alone drinking them) and my stomach is almost back to normal now.

I stopped drinking energy drinks after the influx of 12 year old faggots.
I seem to remember there are lots of kids of YouTube that just post videos of themselves drinking the big 500ml cans of stuff and they keep all the cans and everything.
Pretty interesting video. I quite often go to LAN parties and we often have one or two energy drinks to keep us awake for way longer and still able to play normally.

I've been drinking it like that for about a year or two now. I sometimes stop for a week or two every now and then because I get so sick and tired of the taste but I get back to it eventually.
I haven't really thought much about the health effects other than the health of my teeth. It just doesn't seem all that different from consuming coffee.
I emptied my bin on thursday, there's already two cans of monster and three can of relentless in there.

Plus cups of tea and coffee.
I hate the taste of energy drinks and caffeine rarely has any observable effect on me. So I guess I'm safe :v:
It's when my heart started skipping beats that I stopped drinking the stuff, fuck that. Only thing I really drink now is tea.
Fuck, I just had a Monster :v:
Someone from my school kicked someones face in until they went into a coma after drinking 2 cans of Crunk Juce (kinda the same as Four loko).
I stopped drinking energy drinks when one of my teeth smashed to pieces biting into some shredded beef, that shit shouldn't happen so I heavily reduced my sugar intake.
The fact that energy drinks are cheaper than water (In my area anyway) doesn't help. 1 litre of some obscure energy drink you've never heard of goes for about 60p - 80p in the shop whereas 250ml of water costs around 40p. (1 litre is about £1.50)

Also on the caffeine side of things, it's not just kids. The amount of coffee I see people going through a day is horrible. (I'm talking around 500mg of caffeine a day which is comparable to almost 4 500ml cans of monster.)
Why would you want to drink something with more caffeine then regular coke glass?
The 'energy' they are receiving is mostly a placebo, really.
If not for people emphasizing that coffee 'gives you a kick' people wouldn't drink it for energy so much.

Because caffeine is fun, and a glass of coke barely has caffeine in it at all.
The amount of things people "need" to go about their day baffles me. A few hundred years ago we got by on nothing but very little food and water, and yet people back then did a LOT more physical labor than we do today.
I myself haven't had an energy drink in at least a year, but I do however drink a shit ton of tea. I'm hoping to go through my life without any pills unless I absolutely need them to live. ( Aka no sleep medication, headache/cold relief, antibiotics, etc )

There's a good bit of difference between a cup of coffee and a can of something like monster, one can will waken you up quite a bit.
My mother has an addiction to caffeine via the large amount of diet coke she drinks. Seeing this worries me even more.
I have about 1 - 2 Monsters a week, I don't get them for the boost but the taste is really nice. Don't really effect me to be honest.
