It looks stylish, at the very least. I love the original's insane amount of replay potential. It is endlessly full of new things to see and hear for the first time. Looking for some discussion around a concern though; here it is copied from a newsbot thread:
I'm still sad to see them throwing away the point of Dishonored. It's a game about choice being of critical importance, where all endings are equally valid (rather than having an obligatory "bad" ending of no importance except to the very last five minutes). So why does the sequel take one specific set of choices and make them the official "true" choices, from which to advance? I'm sure this game is fun too, but I would have loved to see this series go elsewhere with similar themes but a completely new cast (except of course for the Outsider). At best, it's an opportunity missed. At worst, what if this is indicative of a more shallow story and choice options?
I don't remember Corvo having such a pronounced chin in the first game, I guess there's different artistic choices here
Choosing a canon ending and taking it to the logical extreme that the writing may be dumbed down is a bit drastic, especially since they've stressed both lethality and expanded non-lethality this time around.
I thought [sp]Delilah died in the DLC[/sp]
I thought [sp]Delilah died in the DLC[/sp]
she can, if the player so chooses but the sequel already chose for you, so whatever (in the DLC you [sp]can throw her into the void[/sp]; presumably she [sp]found a way out, which isn't surprising given her abstract use of magic[/sp])
That's some great looking murder [sp]that I'll never see when I actually play it[/sp] :v:
That's some great looking murder [sp]that I'll never see when I actually play it[/sp] :v:
It's pretty rewarding to get good at the fighting mechanics of the game; few games can make fighting feel like a dance (in a different way, Chivalry: Medieval Warfare accomplishes this). I hope this sequel can bring the same enjoyment to the nonlethal side.
That's some great looking murder [sp]that I'll never see when I actually play it[/sp] :v:
I dare you to do a violence only first playthrough then a non-violent 2nd playthrough as a different character
I will play the fuck out of this game
I dare you to do a violence only first playthrough then a non-violent 2nd playthrough as a different character
I was gonna do non-violent playthrough as Corvo because that's how I played in in the first game, then do a murder-through as Emily. But I'll probably do non-violent first.

[sp]Maybe with the exception of Emily dying I guess.[/sp] I'm not even talking about necessarily carrying things over, but just not flat out contradicting them.
They didn't change The Outsiders voice actor did they?!
They didn't change The Outsiders voice actor did they?!
They did. Voiced by Gotham's Penguin, Robin Taylor.

The one thing I wanted from Dishonored was more story, I wanted to see how deep the grimy underbelly of the universe went, and thankfully it looks like between the DLC and this I'm getting exactly that
Oh man, that music rocks

Do you kill them, or do you not? And not killing anyone is basically just the correct decision.

What matters is the atmosphere and worldbuilding. As long as you have that (and above all good gameplay of course) you could start a sequel on a blank slate with new characters and it would work fine. Honestly they didn't even need to keep Corvo or Emily. They could have the player be a new character in a new city, with the Outsider being the only direct connection between the two games.
Eh, there's pretty much just one, black and white choice in the entire game, it's just repeated for every single character. Do you kill them, or do you not? And not killing anyone is basically just the correct decision.
There's no incorrect decision, the game never really judges you unless you go full rampage but even then high chaos it's a matter of preference rather than correctness. Also the choices aren't so black and white when the alternative to killing a character is often a fate that's may be worse than death.

And not killing anyone is basically just the correct decision.
Non-lethal solutions sensibly lead to a more stable situation for the characters to find themselves in, and also affect Emily's character since you are her father figure and role model. The game doesn't always say that sparing someone is the right thing to do. There are plenty of monsters in the world of Dishonored. Delilah, many of the whale butchers or overseers, the witches that fed an overseer's corpse to another overseer, or perhaps also the man who can take Lady Boyle off to Rape Island (and not kill her as the result, a fate worse than death to many). What about how not killing the Pendletons means making them into slaves? The game stays true to the societal impact of the player's actions, is all. If there's anything to say is black and white about the game, it most definitely is NOT "to kill or not to kill", given how much effort goes into humanizing some of each "enemy" group type while also demonstrating the evils of other group members.
If you murder more than a couple people here and there the entire world goes to shit. Doesn't get much more black and white than that, honestly.
If you murder more than a couple people here and there the entire world goes to shit.
They did. Voiced by Gotham's Penguin, Robin Taylor.
Whyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy
The dude doesn't sound nearly as creepy. :unimpressed: But at least everything else looks sick
Whyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy
There's no real reason to why they did, but the old voice actor, Billy Lush, said that he was 'open' but then in the same breath said he was very busy auditioning and taking care of his family so it's not really sure why the voice change, I don't mind Robin Taylor's voice too much. It'll take me some time getting used to but I like it overall. Also it probably didn't help that Billy Lush's online persona everywhere, including on reddit where he did an AMA, his username is literally 'tranny destroyer'. His reasoning behind it is also kind of shitty and questionable. Bethesda probably didn't want to get mixed up with that shit especially if people looked him up. But otherwise it's kind of a weird decision considering Billy voices the outsider in the first cinematic dishonored 2 trailer.
damn that's a shame, he did a good job and I was really looking forward to hearing him voice more of the outsider in 2
Yeah he did do a good job, part of me will miss him, but with how I've seen him answering questions and acting online like an ass it kinda ruins the voice for me sadly.
Is that Corvo voiced by Stephen Russell? [editline]13th September 2016[/editline] It is! http://www.imdb.com/name/nm1592197/
Can't wait to kill everything CHAOS
