Battlefield 3 has quickly become the fastest-selling game in the history of Electronic Arts. The first-person military shooter sold 5 million copies in its first week, according to EA internal estimates. Previously, EA announced that it had shipped 10 million copies globally. To put that in context with the competition, last year's Call of Duty: Black Ops had a first-week sales total of $650 million -- divided by $60 a pop would be 10 million-plus copies. "We had a spectacular first week," said Patrick Soderlund, executive vice president of the EA Games label. "The quality is actually trending up. We've seen an uplift in Metacritic on the console 87 on PS3 and 85 on 360. We are holding at 90 on the PC. So we are more pleased with the quality of the product and the perception of it. I think the word of mouth from gamers is really strong. People are saying, 'You have to go in and play this multiplayer. It is like an addiction'." neat
Hmm, Should i buy the xbox version with the super low playercount, Or the PC version that makes me use origin?
Too bad they rushed the release and it's buggy as fuck.
All that marketing paid off I suppose.
Hmm, Should i buy the xbox version with the super low playercount, Or the PC version that makes me use origin?
PC version, it'll most likely get patched more and faster.
Too bad they rushed the release and it's buggy as fuck.
They probably wanted to be ahead of the new Call of Duty release.
Too bad they rushed the release and it's buggy as fuck.
Funny thing is, ignoring the falling through the ground and giraffe soldiers, the beta seems less buggy than the actual release. I've had more issues connecting to servers in the full game.
Too bad they rushed the release and it's buggy as fuck.
It's far less buggy than you put on.

[editline]31st October 2011[/editline]
It's far less buggy than you put on.
I broke my mouse clicking disagree good job.
Hmm, Should i buy the xbox version with the super low playercount, Or the PC version that makes me use origin?
Origin. It's not that bad.
Hmm, Should i buy the xbox version with the super low playercount, Or the PC version that makes me use origin?
PC version how is Origin a con?
I personally Battlefield 3 getting more intrest in the long run, battlefield games always have had a long life. COD sales tend to drop after the first few months.
PC version how is Origin a con?
Cause it's a useless, steaming pile of shit. that's why. waiting to buy BF3 till origin is no longer required.
PC version how is Origin a con?
It spys out your computer and forces you to agree on that in it's ToS. But seriously, the PC version isn't as bad as above posters say - I haven't been stuck a single time anywhere or saw some fucked up animation in the full game I've played around 10 hours online now. I had some issues in singleplayer where I didn't see some things in the cutscenes but thats about it.
I've had my mouse stop working multiple times in the spawn menu - forcing me to use my keyboard to try to change weapons and class. Same in the escape menu, and battlelog works only one time in 3. Not to mention random crashes occasionally when I start the game up. When in game, as long as you don't get any menu issues, it's pretty much fine.
It spys out your computer and forces you to agree on that in it's ToS.
Pretty sure steam does the same thing origin does. I honeslty havn't seen many bugs. I got a little stuttering in a game one time and there was this one server that wouldn't let me join but that is about it.
They gotta patch this shit.
Cause it's a useless, steaming pile of shit. that's why. waiting to buy BF3 till origin is no longer required.
It's really not bad at all. It's not terribly useful, but at the same time it doesn't really interfere. They even added my EA Steam games to my account after I contacted support. Battlelog on the other hand.
I used to be pretty impartial to Origin but having to use it all the time to launch BF3 I'm really starting to hate it now During the install I had to jump through a bunch of hoops before I could even launch the game, and even then Origin is unresponsive a lot of times, cloud saving is buggy and we seriously still don't have custom avatars For BF3 Quick Match doesn't work for me, and the server list is all whack
Too bad they rushed the release and it's buggy as fuck.
There's lots of bugs left over from the beta release. This is unacceptable because they'd rather give five million people all over the world a buggy, rubberbanding, laggy shit registry game just so they can be ahead of Activision and patch it later. To top it off with a $60 above-average market price cherry. How slow the patching cycle is. You'd think by now they would have had the package ready, the company being as huge as EA.
Too bad they rushed the release and it's buggy as fuck.
All games are buggy on release. There is no way to test the game against the literal millions of different hardware setups computers have.
I fucking love this game and I want to be able to play without it crashing in the middle of a game, the sad thing even is that you crash whenever something NOT intense happens.
Too bad they rushed the release and it's buggy as fuck.
They wanted to get it out before MW3, and that was a good decision.
Origin isn't bad at all. I haven't even noticed it. It's Battlelog that gives me all the problems
they wanted to release it faster than CoD, well most play on Consoles while for BF most play on PC
ITT: people bitch over origin and how it ruins their life somehow if they install it. get the fuck over it, if you aren't going to buy bf3 because of origin, then you probably shouldn't buy it at all.
They wanted to get it out before MW3, and that was a good decision.
Well.. if releasing earlier means the game is pretty damn buggy, I'd say it was a bad decision. I personally believe MW3 will have more sales, but since BF3 is pretty bad right now, not in terms of gameplay... it'll definetly sell more.
Too bad they rushed the release and it's buggy as fuck.
Watch it going the same way CoD went... I'd actually feel sorry if it went that way, because the game actually looks pretty cool.
