A Florida Keys man was arrested after deputies say he robbed his girlfriend and then ate some of the money that he stole, according to the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office.
Leosvel Cordova Parrado, a Marathon resident, was allegedly intoxicated when deputies say he left a party and became angry at his girlfriend and son and demanded that they go home Wednesday night.
Once the family arrived home, Parrado took his girlfriend’s wallet that had $750 in cash, the sheriff's office said in a release Thursday.
Deputies later arrested Parrado and found a lot of cash in his pocket and a valium pill that he didn’t have a prescription for.
Officials said that the cash left in Parrado’s pocket was there temporarily as deputies walked him outside to the patrol vehicle. Deputies attempted to find the cash once they were outside but the cash was missing from his pocket.
Parrado said he placed the stolen cash on the bed inside his home.
During the ride to jail, a deputy noticed a strange sound in his backseat and saw Parrado chewing on a mouth full of cash, authorities said. More cash was found his underwear where deputies believe he hid it. The deputy pulled over and tried to save some of the cash but only $277 was recovered from the $750 that his girlfriend said he stole.
Parrado has been charged with robbery, battery, grand theft, resisting arrest, possession of a controlled substance and tampering with evidence
Lets just say I don't think he was ready for the kind of volcanic shits he would have after that.
Very asshole thing for the guy to do considering he has a son as well.
That's nearly $500 down the toilet.
there's so much fucking bacteria on dollar bills holy shit.
He'll be shitting a profit.
is it normal in the states to have $750 in cash in your wallet? that seems really suspicious but then here in the UK the vast majority of people pay for everything with debit cards

Not really, the most I keep in my wallet is like $60 ; usually about $20. More if I know I'm going to be spending it on something, but I would never strut around with that amount of money for no reason.

Certainly not, most people I know don't carry more than $20. I only have $22 in cash right now.
Eating it, though? Why?

I usually have a few hundred on me, 750 is quite a bit though.
I thought the title meant he ate almost 500$ worth of food while being arrested
Not literally ate almost 500$
I'm honestly not sure which is more impressive

he thought all the coke molecules and exposure to hookers asses might have sanitized them? :v:

Definitely the food one, if the food is even remotely normally priced
Eating it, though? Why?
Sounds like he was drunk enough, and possibly stole some pills, to do it.
Why bother spending money on food when you can just eat the money instead I always say.
He's gonna be pissed when he discovers his stomach acids destroyed the bills.
I guess he likes eating expensive cuisine.
When I read the thread title, I thought "eating" was a metaphor for having to pay a fine.
I was like "Shit, I need to rob my girlfriend sometime if I want to make a profit."

Just depends - people get cash advances, cash their paychecks, etc.
Maybe she was paying her rent/bills. Not that it really matters, the dude is a cock.

Yeah that seems kinda odd. Maybe she was planning on buying something pricey that needed paying in cash?
I literally never carry anything other than pocket change - £10 tops unless I'm going out on that night and have got money out for that specifically.
Most places not having any limit on how small a transaction you can play on card is great.

Really.
I mean it's just foolish to carry around so much cash.

750$ in cash, rather.

"If I can't win, nobody can."
There are a number of reasons to carry cash. I carry 200-400 dollars on me at all time, usually because I can be called at any given moment to rush from Dallas Texas to Virginia, so I have to have money on me for the trip.
750 isn't that much at all to carry on you. It may seem like a lot, but if know a handful of people who work legitimate jobs and carry 1000+ on them. Many rich people carry cash like that to show off, or because of issues with banks allowing large purchases.
seeing as how this case is in the Florida Keys, you can bet that someone is filthy rich or at least above middle class.
robbery, battery, grand theft, resisting arrest, possession of a controlled substance and tampering with evidence
I never quite get these piled on charges, isn't grand theft more or less the same as robbery?
I'm not even sure if the "tampering with evidence" part is illegal here by itself if you do it to try to hide your own crime.
Well at least nobody can say he doesn't put his money where his mouth is
Grand theft is the same as grand larceny. In other words, you aren't holding someone at gunpoint and threatening them for money, you're just casually stealing it. Grand larceny, depending on the state, is usually charged when a person steals more than 500 dollars worth of goods or money. Anything below that is misdemeanor petty theft.
Unfortunately, I live in a state with the lowest felony limit of 200 dollars. Every other state is 500+, so I've got a felony conviction for some goods that my friend stole and put in my car. (It was 210 dollars worth of clothes)

This is why you should give homeless people coins rather than notes. Coins are far more filling, whereas notes are basically just roughage
