I have to post the scene now that you have mentioned Hot Fuzz

Was waiting for him to walk through to the nuclear bomb section.
How does someone even afford all that?
It's such a well kept collection is what surprises me
I thought this was just going to be some redneck with 10,000 m16s, but it's actually a incredibly detailed museum of sorts

it's not that hard to build up a collection of guns over time. I have around 20 guns just buying one every once in a while, and that's with selling one every couple of years too. I imagine if you've been buying guns for 50 years and have more money than I do it's easy to build up a couple thousand

he was drafted into vietnam at 18 (mid-60's), returned at 20 with plans to build his dragon bike, and opened his shop soon after.
The location has grown to become a shooting range, firearms shop, paintball park, and of course the museum. Living in the right place means a loooooot of traffic/money for those kinda things, and of course more access to the rarer/more dangerous stuff
he's been through a lot in recent years but keeps moving forward with enthusiasm for his hobby
That's a very impressive collection. Even the things like the gun belt buckle, must've cost a fortune for one.
it's not an inexpensive thing for sure.
the thing about them is nobody is even sure if they're real Nazi memorabilia or later production. they're cool no doubt but they have no verifiable provenance. due to the nature of clandestine weapons the lack of a paper trail doesn't mean much but it's still a weird piece
What an absolutely breathtaking collection. It's what my Mother would call "a herd of Elephants". I couldn't even imagine moving a collection that large if the need arose.
goals
Not that different from someone that collects spoons or decorative plates.
What kind of licenses does he need to have this collection?
What kind of licenses does he need to have this collection?
well he has a type 1 ffl and class 3 sot, which makes it a whole hell of a lot easier, but technically you don't need anything other than a shitload of time and money
The most dangerous place in the state once the government says "everything is fine"
Not that different from someone that collects spoons or decorative plates.
what the hell kind of spoons and plates is that person collecting then
what the hell kind of spoons and plates is that person collecting then
I think he's talking about the psychology of collecting as a whole. Someone who collects weaponry usually does it for the same reasons that someone would collect stamps or vintage cars. Because it's something they are interested in, it is pleasurable to posses and own things you are interested in, and you can help preserve the things you are passionate about.
No I was actually emphasizing that it's a little sad what this guy is doing.

how is enjoying things sad?
No I was actually emphasizing that it's a little sad what this guy is doing.
it's not hurting anyone and if the dude was proud about how many times he could beat off without destroying his penis there'd still be no problem or any magnitude of sadness
No I was actually emphasizing that it's a little sad what this guy is doing.
you can say all you want, but the guy probably has close to or over a million dollars worth of shit in a hobby he enjoys
thats probably the complete opposite of sad actually
No I was actually emphasizing that it's a little sad what this guy is doing.
Do you not know how to enjoy life

Is your last name Smuckers because I can sense some serious jelly going on here
Imagine you're sitting at the family dinner table during a holiday. Your uncle and grandfather start going off about wars and weapons. One minute you're enjoying steak and potatoes, next minute you're surrounded by a museum of firearms, mannequins uniforms, grenades, bombs, military trucks, tanks.
If I make it to america, I hope to visit this museum
