• Ontario Halts all Offshore Wind Energy Projects
LONDON, Ont. - The Ontario government has abruptly changed direction on offshore wind energy, halting proposed projects. The Liberal government said Friday it "is not proceeding with proposed offshore wind projects while further scientific research is conducted." No approvals for offshore projects have yet been issued and "no offshore projects will proceed at this time," the government said in a statement from the premier's office. Premier Dalton McGuinty's government has come under sharp attack from opponents of wind turbine farms, especially in rural areas along stretches of Great Lakes identified as having the potential to power the province's alternative energy plans. Projects have been proposed along Lakes Huron, Erie and Ontario.
**SOURCE** I would like to point out that wind power is generally designed for charging circuits which operate in on/off cycles. The Ontario as well as the entire North American power grid is not designed for this and wind power has the potential to cause grid instability in the form of rolling brownouts and surges. That research is pretty much them looking into a capacitive adaption that allows the turbines to start and stop all they want but still constantly output a stable current.
We need fusion power and hydroelectric dams not wind and sun which is unreliable at times.
We need fusion power and hydroelectric dams not wind and sun which is unreliable at times.
Sadly hippies and Soccermoms would just cry Chernobyl and start protesting against it :argh:
Yeah people need to be told on the differences between a normal modern nuclear plant and the Chernobyl plant.
