Her friends, family, and dare I say, half the world, call her a hero for defeating her abusive husband. This this guy enters the picture. Though abused in the more subtle way women abuse people, he nonetheless was controlled and dominated (and the threat of a nasty divorce causing him to lose much of what he has looming over his head doesn't help). His mind eventually hits the breaking point and he kills her. He knows it's wrong, but he can't do anything about it. Anyone who has ever snapped like that understands this man: he didn't mean to be impolite, his mind simply was unable to bear the pain, and did the work for him. It likely would have taken weeks for him to finally feel something... the brain has a pleasant habit of holding back the pain until you are ready to deal with it. But this man will be regarded as a villain. Why? Because he shouldn't have been such a pussy, or because he should have been the better man, etc etc. No one will understand what he went through, because men and women are indeed not quite equal.
