Warner Bros. has picked up the rights to Five Nights at Freddy’s, the popular video game series created by Scott Cawthon.
The feature adaptation will be produced by Roy Lee of Vertigo Entertainment as well as Seth Grahame-Smith and David Katzenberg of KatzSmith Productions.
The game takes place in Freddy Fazbear’s Pizza, a darker version of Chuck-E-Cheese, where an animatronic animal band performs kiddy songs by day, and goes on murderous rampages by night. The goal of the game is survive a night locked inside, knowing that a furry death machine might jump out of the dark at any moment.
“We’re looking forward to working with Scott to make an insane, terrifying and weirdly adorable movie,” said Grahame-Smith.
"The story really lends itself to being a movie and it taps into a largely unexplored niche of horror that a lot of people will be able to relate to," said Cawthon.
The project is currently out to writers.
Can't wait!!!!
Why
The internet has truly reached the point that it's a part of culture. Even the smallest things can become motion pictures now.
Say what you want about a fnaf movie, but it is undeniably easy money
This is insane.
Cawthon is just literally swimming in money at this point.
It's actually kinda inspiring. Given, the fanbase got toxic pretty quick but overall the games are an amazing success story.
devianart is going to go apeshit over this. not looking forward to that
I expected this to be an Onion article.
hoo boy i was wrong
Ow, I'm in severe pain all of a sudden. Get this pizza away from me.
"Out to writers" what do they mean exactly? It means people are writing it now or they're looking for writers?
I'll go see it but

That's not a good sign.
no.
unless you get charlie day as the guard, because i would love to see him flip shit out
This could go very well if done right, but I have trouble being optimistic about adaptations. Either way it's more filling for Scott's money pool.
Also, very first game I knew this was going to be a movie at some point. Call me silly.

All the murder is replaced with terrible comedy moments. Starring Adam Sandler as the security guard.
I look forward to the inevitable CSI episode about the killer animatronics being run by a psychopathic pizzaria owner.

It means the script's currently in development. They don't have anything to show except a press release stating the ink's dried on the contract.

it means they are still writing the script

Don't give them any ideas.
Make fun of it all you want.
Scott will be laughing at you straight to the bank
Jesus Cawthon must be very pleased. I doubt he planned on FNAF taking off the way it did. Then again, who would have thought angry birds would sell like crack? Or Candy Crush?
eh just because it was picked up doesn't mean they will do anything with it.
This FNAF craze is getting way too out of hand. Basically, if you go on youtube and type in sfm, most of the posts are shitty fnaf fan vids. I know there are a few good ones, but most of them are shitty. Like this...
It reeks of autism...

Doesn't the bible says that money is the root of all evil?

considering how most of the fans are rabid 9 year olds who go as far as to change their social media profile names to shit like "foxy the pirate fox" you can't really expect them to make a movie that's not suitable for that demographic
I was never into this whole thing. I played the first game for maybe 10 minutes.
But damn, the creator seems to be hell of a seller.

And it all started with a failed Kickstarter pitch. Well done.
I never felt the need to play the games but i thought the mythology was alright.
This could either be incredibly good or the worst movie ever.
