Advice to all Facepunchers in high school and college

I am in my final year or university and I realize now that a crucial part of my life is filled with mistakes and shortcomings.
Your time from around 16 to 24 is a life changing time for you. If you make the best of it, you will be way ahead of others.
Here are some things I wish I had done differently. It's up to you to agree or disagree with what I say.
High School
I was a fucking teachers' pet, mama's boy type. I over-emphasized academics over everything else and this was a huge mistake. Yes, I got over 90s average throughout all terms of high school, but was it worth losing all the fun? FUCK NO! High school to me now seems like the time you are suppose to screw up, get into troubles, fuck things up and do stupid shit. It's your life as a teenager. You are suppose to mess up. It's a time for your experimentation, and I missed that out completely. So if you are currently like how I was in high school, stop it! If a friend invites you to a party on a Friday night, sneak out of the house and get smashed. You can hardly lose anything in high school. So be active, have fun and make friends.
Some ground rules though
1. Getting good marks is an important part of being a student. Don't get me wrong. So make sure you make the mark you need to get into the college and the program you want to get into.
2. Experimenting with weed, but nothing more. No coke, heroine stuff like that.
3. DO NOT GET A GIRL PREGNANT! Be safe. Make sure you wear condom when you have sex. If you are girl, DO NOT GET PREGNANT. Make sure the guy you are having sex with wears a condom.
College/University
This is time for you to draw big pictures on the outlook of your future. I'm talking about 10, 20, 30 years down the road. Think about where you'd like to be and intermediate steps to get there. It is highly unlikely that everything will go as you planned, but planning does help you in finding out whether or not if you on the track to becoming whom you wanted to be. Here are proven things that you have to do in university for your success.
1. Marks are very important in most cases. If you are in liberal arts, you'll probably want to pursue graduate degrees to become a professor or go into law school or whatever because liberal arts degree on its own is utterly useless. So work hard to get great marks. Keep in mind that in liberal arts, your effort in studying in pay off directly! So if you work hard and prepare for exams, essays etc, you will be able to get great GPA of 3.6 and above. If you are engineering or CS, marks are somewhat less important because you are employable after you graduate with just undergrad. However, marks are important in getting internships and your first employment after you graduate.
2. Make acquaintances. Networking will become highly valuable in pretty much everything you do once you are out of school. Make sure you leave good impression on people. Joing school clubs and administration is a great way to meet new people.
3. Make friends. Making friends are orders of magnitude more difficult than making friends. Your Facebook may tell you that you have over 500 friends, but you actually have even 5 true friends in your life, you have so much more than many other people.
I guess all the rules of thumb for high school life applies to uni life as well.
I am sorry that I can't be more specific that what I could say here. To be honest, I haven't been able to do everything I've said here.
Ask me any question here or PM me, if you'd like to improve your life.
Cheers.
i love heroine. they're my favorite heroes in comics

What?
Otherwise, pretty common knowledge stuff. At least I think so.
oh no im pregnant and do heroin and i also have a .4 gpa what ever shall i do oh great oldboy
High school is ten times better than Middle school, but College is 100 times better than High School.
Because at a college, people actually want to be there.
why should i be fucking around in high school when i already know what not to do
so everyone should have lots of sex and do lots of drugs? sounds like a plan, man.
I still fuck around in high school. No one's caught me yet.

Meant to say acquaintance
I wonder...can I do heroine and have unprotected sex at the SAME TIME??????
This must be determined by (an) experiment.
Don't feel bad about studying too hard during high school. It's far better to miss out on partying and learn to manage your life. I mean, I never partied, but I didn't put as much effort into school as I should have. I basically learned how to procrastinate.
Besides, it's not like there's absolutely no time for partying or FUN once you get to college, though I would contend that schooling becomes of much greater consequence. To me, it essentially comes down to this: Is it better to miss out on partying in high school and learn to do things that will be useful the rest of your life, all the while retaining the possibility of messing around in the future? Or screw around in high school and end up floundering around in desperation and frustration later on because you never learned discipline?
i dont need to listen to your advice
i'm going to go and study my biology right now and read up on my german vocabulary just to prove you wrong!
I dont know. I feel like ive fucked up pretty badly. I mean since elementary school ive just been playing video games and thats where i put my attention. Ive basically squeaked by my classes because id procrastinate about doing my homework. I probably could be going to a better school but im not because i just was too lazy to sit down for an hour to do homework.
The problem with procrastinating in college is that it costs money. It also means that colleges dont mess around either. screw around and they may kick you out and youre back at square one. The more classes you dont pass the more money you have to spend and if youre a student trying to support yourself thats just more money you have to spend to get somewhere.
Dont take this as me saying i dont want you to have any fun im just saying that dont neglect work if you plan to do this. once you get out of college youre still young. theres a lot for you to do
I actually have things to focus on other than being a dumb teen in highschool.
You know, like following my passion.

You can do both.
You can do both.
I've tried doing both, only one of them is satisfactory.
Guess which.
My high school senior year was fucking awesome, even before the Gabe Interview
entire OP: common sense
If there's one thing I've learned, it's that trying to pattern your life after someone else's is a Very Bad Idea.
Also, what if I'm in middle school?

While most of your advice is simple "common sense" stuff, I almost completely disagree with this one. Experimentation is one thing, but you're advocating pure irresponsibility. Beyond that though, you're (maybe unintentionally) perpetuating the idea that being intelligent and diligent is somehow a bad thing.
I was a total fucking loser in high school, partly because I spent a lot of time doing homework, but also because I was a coward and was pretty much socially incompetent. Despite that, I'm finding myself regretting this less and less as the years go on. Sure, my high school years sucked, but I knew where I wanted to go with my life. Now, I'm in college and I'm simultaneously working harder than I've ever worked, as well as having more fun than I ever did in high school.
Do I wish I had been more courageous and experimental in high school? Yeah, sometimes. But do I feel like my life has been wasted because of it? Not a chance. I can't tell you how many of my old high school acquaintances who, even today, do not have anything close to an idea on what they want to do with their lives. Sure, I'll get the generic "Oh, I want to go into business," or "Oh, I'm majoring in fine arts," but rare are the occasions where I get something specific. I, on the other hand, have several potential routes on where I want to go, each one becoming clearer as I learn more.
Feel free to experiment in high school (within reason), but don't let it come at the expense of a decent education. That's why you're there.
Actually I would highly recommend coke. Weed is hardly a drug, bro.
Try a light drug of each category and see what floats your fancy, but stay away from addiction.

I don't want to be at college :(
Then again, it might be because I'm at a technical school. It might also have to do with the fact that the game design class isn't actually a game design class.

I'm not sure if you're trolling or just being a fucking idiot, but that's some of the most horrific advice I've ever heard, and that's saying something on the internet. I cannot think of a single valid reason to do cocaine, ever, and the same goes for heroine and meth. Stay the fuck away from those.
how old are you op

Fuck yeah!
OP is trying to say that you should toss a few fucking snakes.
Building memories and growing up is the most important thing to do.
It sucks huge dick to get out of highschool and look back on it with a, "well shit that was boring," mentality.
His tips aren't all bad either. Yeah manage your marks, hang out with people, enjoy yourself.
Be good to each other, and party on.
Op talking to himself
Op is talking as if he's in college but I somehow doubt he's 15 yet.
Freshman year in college is purely evaluative. Basically you're finding out whether the major you chose is what you want to do, so make sure you go beyond the call of your normal classes. For example, my college (ASU, Arizona State University) gives lab tours to several of its facilities. If you see a tour that pertains to your major, go check it out, it could give you a real insight into what your future may look like in that career.
Thank you OP. I'll blow up the school later.
