Susan Kronbeck, an employee of the Walden Avenue Target for 13 years, claims she was fired for purchasing the popular Zhu Zhu Pet from her store.
Kronbeck worked the overnight shift at the store and purchased the hot toy a few weeks back. Target claims they put out a memo that warned employees not to buy the Zhu Zhu toys until 8 a.m. that day, but Kronbeck says she was never notified and bought the toy around 4 a.m.

Rules are rules. She must have been sleeping on the job for 13 years.
Really now?
Oh wow, so she misses a memo and gets fired? whats the big deal if she buys it before 8 am anyways?

Companies do anything just to fire an employee due to our current crisis in our economic system.

If companies know they're not making the maximum profit they can get, they won't bother to wait for a reason.

no, employees get discounts
it wouldn't really make a difference if she bought it at 4 or 8 if you ask me. thats pretty stupid. plus if she didn't even get the 'memo'
they couldn't at least let her off w/ a warning ?
It's just to stop employees clearing out the shelves of a new product before customers.

It's like buying Cod: MW2 before the release date. Zhu Zhu pets are the Halo of toys.
In that they're overrated and expensive? Zing! :bandwagon:
But seriously, this is retarded. I'm sure Target bought a surplus, so why not buy the overflow?

I guess she didn't get the memo...I'll make sure to get her a copy

I fucking hate Target. They're EMPLOYEES. They don't show up to work to be part of a 'team,' they show up to get a paycheck. Jesus christ.
Some companies are cool about letting employees get first shot at everything, some aren't. It would be a good idea to know what kind you work for BEFORE you grab what everyone knows is the hot item this season.
It's not like she bought shitloads of those hamsters for her friends or anything, so it's pretty lame they fire her for one mistake after 13 years.
Looks like they picked an innocent target
hampsters are serious fucking business

Team Huddles...?
...seriously?
Target can't be that stupid, can they?
I found the picture in the article quite amusing. The person is called 'Sue' and the company is called 'Target'.
She could potentially 'Sue' 'Target'.
it just feels so facking good!
Did she get to keep it?
13 years? After that long she's accumulated a number of salary increases and benefits, making her more expensive to have on staff than the short-term employees. Corporate probably had her marked for termination anyway, this was just the excuse they needed.
