As announced via the company’s official site, the stores feature “something for the kid in all of us,” including “an assortment of this holiday's most desired video games and accessories, game licensed products, popular toy brands and collectibles.” The first store will open today in Grapevine, Texas, with other locations set to open throughout November. Products shown on GameStop’s site include toys and accessories related to Angry Birds, Skylanders, Minecraft, Pac-Man, Mario, Lego and many more. For now, only U.S. locations have been announced. Head over to GameStop’s site for a full list of locations and a full list of GameStop Kids products. Full disclosure: IGN has a commercial relationship with GameStop.
Source: http://www.ign.com/articles/2012/10/26/gamestop-opening-kids-specific-stores I have no idea how I feel about this. On the upswing, they may have a selection of cool toys and collectibles much like you'd find in a Newbury Comics, but then again it could be entirely shit as well.
They will only sell 360's with copies of MW3
They will only sell 360's with copies of MW3
Along with cans of Monster and Turtle Beach headsets.
Along with cans of Monster and Turtle Beach headsets.
They'll save that for their other idea "Gamestop brats"
i notice everytime a company adds "kids" on the end of one of their products it always has to look spastic
i notice everytime a company adds "kids" on the end of one of their products it always has to look spastic
I was gonna say that kid-branding hasn't changed since the 90s and it sucks
What a complete waste of time.
"But mooooom! I'm not a kid anymore I want to go to the normal gamestops!"
Would it not be simpler to have a kids section in existing stores?
Would it not be simpler to have a kids section in existing stores?
We do. We call it the Wii section. (I kid, I kid). Honestly though, with the amount of M-rated games parents buy their kids, I'm pretty sure you can count the entire store as the "kids section" now.
They will only sell 360's with copies of MW3
Don't be ridiculous. Children wouldn't be able to grasp the important themes that Call of Duty games tend to communicate to the user. The unstoppable military industrial complex, secret assassinations and killings, espionage, international diplomacy and terrorism.
They're opening 80 new Gamestop locations?! That's awesome!
They're opening 80 new Gamestop locations?! That's awesome!
But it'll be full of possible racist brats. On the upside, I see less of them at a regular Gamestop.
Sounds horrible, especially for the gamestop employees that will have to work there. Dealing with kids/working in a retail store is not a fun mix.
Well I am heading back to my hometown this weekend, it is right next to Grapevine, I will go check it out and take some pictures for yall. Though I really hate going in there, any Gamestop in a mall sucks.
Along with cans of Monster and Turtle Beach headsets.
Whats wrong with Turtle Beach? I have a headset and I think its fairly good.
I hope they have a ball pit.
Whats wrong with Turtle Beach? I have a headset and I think its fairly good.
I had one, never really used it and it fell apart.
Surprised Kids isn't spelled with a Z
Maybe if they have a gamestop kids, they'll have an age restriction on the normal one? One can dream.
Yeah, doubt it'd do anything CoD's rated M but its filled with prepubescents.
And I thought Gamestop was doing poorly.
So basically its a Gamestop store made to appeal to kids so they drag their parents in and force them to buy stuff on Christmas? Probably because most people have gotten some sense and stopped buying the overpriced games they sell in brick and mortar stores and moved to digital downloads which are usually cheaper, and always more convenient.
And I thought Gamestop was doing poorly.
Not at all, Gamestop is pretty much the primary place for kids to buy vidya games in the US.
Call of duty everywhere for the Kids!! but seriously though why open something like this?
And I thought Gamestop was doing poorly.
I thought this too, but if they are opening 80 new stores tailored to a 'small' market, then they must be doing quite well.
And I thought Gamestop was doing poorly.
It's pretty much the only place to buy physical console games in the US.
More jobs, who can complain?
Does the logo look like that kid got shot in the head to anyone else? I mean what's with the blood splatter in the top right...
