The Pelletiers have been open about their disdain for Boston Children’s Hospital. Justina had been diagnosed with mitochondrial disease by Tufts Medical Center. Boston Children’s disagreed and claimed the young girl’s symptoms were all psychosomatic. When the Pelletiers attempted to take their daughter out of Boston Children’s on Valentine’s Day 2013, the hospital called in the state, which eventually caused Justina to be separated from her parents and locked into a psychiatric ward for over a year. She is now living in a residential facility in Framingham. we have so many fucking retarded judges and the amount of power some of them hold is ridiculous, especially federal judges
we have so many fucking retarded judges
Doesn't seem that clear cut in my opinion. If you read further on in the source...
Johnston criticized the Pelletiers for calling Boston Children’s staff members Nazis and claiming “the hospital was punishing and killing Justina.” Last year, a medical facility in the parents’ home state of Connecticut tentatively agreed to take Justina in so that she could be close to her friends and family. The facility backed out of the agreement after Lou threatened to sue. Lou Pelletier had also threatened a state a state social worker who was assigned to the case. That worker had to be reassigned.
none of this makes any sense at all
Doesn't seem that clear cut in my opinion. If you read further on in the source...
There is something really off about the way the father apparently acted. It seems like this could very possibly be a case of child abuse. If you read this, you'll notice that the father kept threatening to sue people who wanted to help the girl, which doesn't make a whole lot of sense. In any case, we know pretty much next to nothing about the specifics behind why the hospital chose to call the DCF, so it's difficult to say with any certainty which side is in the wrong.
She's basically in prison for being ill. That's pathetic.
It only fails to make sense when you don't get the full picture of just how batshit insane the parents have been acting throughout. They desperately want their child to be sick for reasons I can't even begin to guess. In cases like this it's only a matter of time before the parents actually start physically harming their child to get the result they want.
Münchausen syndrome by proxy?
The part that makes me worry is that her condition rapidly deteriorated after being admitted with the state.
The part that makes me worry is that her condition rapidly deteriorated after being admitted with the state.
Is that only based on the word of the parents? Because hospitals would not be releasing medical information.

According to them, the hospital she is currently at is the one that misdiagnosed and is now holding her hostage.
Münchausen syndrome by proxy?
I've got an extended family member that was guilty of being like that, my cousins used to have phantom illnesses.

In any case, we know pretty much next to nothing about the specifics behind why the hospital chose to call the DCF, so it's difficult to say with any certainty which side is in the wrong.
In the last thread the reason given was that the parents wanted to keep giving the kid drugs, while the hospital said it was unnecessary, to which the parents responded by trying to take her out of the hospital.

I think the only thing that everyone can agree on is that this kid has been through hell regardless of which side is telling the truth. Either she's been unnecessarily drugged by her parents this whole time, or she's being denied treatment for a real illness.
As if hospital security would stop me from taking my children. They would need some big police officers before they got anywhere near stopping me. Most likely i would be gone before that. I can't believe the state can legally kidnap your children.
