Yes, it's that time of the year. Script Frenzy 2011 is coming up, starting April 1st and ending april 30th.
I created this thread for those who had already planned on taking part, and to ignite interest in those who don't know what the contest is, but you can learn all about it here.
I took part last year, but broke my collarbone 50 pages in, so I couldn't finish. I'll be taking part this year also, but with a whole new script. I'm here if ya want to see the excerpt from my script and other shit. Do indeed post your accounts here so we can chat.
RULES
The Challenge? Write 100 pages of original scripted material in the 30 days of April. (Screenplays, stage plays, TV shows, short films, and graphic novels are all welcome.)
When? April 1-30
Cost? Free. We run on donations.
Who? Everyone (worldwide) is welcome. No experience required.
Prizes? Happiness. Creative juices. Pride. Laughter. Bragging rights. A brand-new script.
How? Sign up! Tell everyone that you are in the Frenzy. Get ready to start writing on April 1.
Are you up for the challenge?
Oh my god that would conflict with my schoolwork so badly I might get thrown out

I write about a thousand words per day, or at least did for a few weeks. Can I get in just to get peer-pressure (Facepunch-pressure) to finish my WIP?

Most likely, just as long as you write 100 pages.
And I fixed the OP, thank you for correcting me deggie.
Do all of the pages have to mesh together in a story or can I do 30 pages of short stories and then 70 on monologues?

I'm not sure, you can always send them an e-mail, they respond quickly.
I guess if it's some sort of series it might work, but I'd still ask them to be sure.
I'm in. Signing up now.
gonna be hella fun I'd say

Judging by your grammar that would be a good idea :v:
That plot machine thing is questionable.

Thanks. I'm new to scriptwriting though, so I'm going to have to think a lot about converting it to a script. I suppose instead of a diary, it could be a story being told by the soldier himself. I don't know D:

Is there any decent scriptwriting software? The one they linked to on the website is for mac only.

You mean Celtx?
It's not mac exclusive, I thought that at first, but it's also windows compatible.
I highly recommend it, it's really good.
After breaking out of the zoo

decides to rid the world of bad pop music
Script writing here we go
Sounds fun, I signed up.

I think there was another one. I just downloaded the beta of Scrivener for Windows, I'll try a test script with that first.
[editline]19th March 2011[/editline]
I'll give Celtx a whirl after that.

Just learning it. When the event starts, I'll be doing this scene properly.
For the event, do you HAVE to use the story generator thing? I didn't read up on that.
In a city that never sleeps a recent high school dropout switches suitcases with a Mafia hit man.
This could end up being pretty awesome...

Sounds a bit like Police Academy 5...
After being sucked through a black hole a nuclear physicist with a broken heart shuts down power to Walt Disney World.
lmao time to get to work

On a space station filled with mimes
a DJ with Tourette's
is mistaken for Elton John and goes with it
that is probably the most hilarious thing i've ever read.
This sounds fun! If I can get my other movie projects done in time, I'll certainly do this.
Im calling mine Dave.
I have a scrap book of random shit I write down for cool story lines and I've wanted to make this novel or w/e for a while now of a guy called "dave"
Why are people rating op optimistic? There's nothing queer about writing, or the script frenzy. It's just something that can help you get some motivation to write up a script and it's fairly smart. Unless you're some illiterate sap who despises every single thing written up in any language.
Thread reminded me of the fact that I have no resources to learn how to script
[editline]20th March 2011[/editline]
I am sad. I can write though, but I'm not going to do this because I have other stuff going on

They provide some basic resources. Click on the high school thing.
I don't think I could bring myself to write 100 pages for fun, otherwise I would love to.

It isn't hard to add one of these bad boys every now and then either: '
Also for writing scripts, take a look at Adobe Story. It's a online based script writer where you just log on with an adobe account and you can write scripts and shit. It's super easy to use, has a tutorial video and an offline client if you want one.

"While undergoing an existential crisis
the oldest park ranger in the Andes
receives the 11th commandment"
I like the sound of that. But I'd rather set it in the US.
