The Mysterious Cities of Gold/Les Mystérieuses Cités d'Or/Taiyō no ko Esteban is a Japanese-French animated series from the 80s, which Radio-Canada re-aired during the 2000s when I was a kid. According to Wikipedia, "On Chibi Japan Expo in Paris, Jean Chalopin announced that three new seasons of 26 episodes are planned with a release starting in 2011."

It's very loosely based on a novel, The King's Fifth, about some Spanish kid who can summon the Sun and becomes friends with a an Incan girl and some weird guy from Mu and searches for his father in the Cities of Gold, which can only be unlocked by a pendant he and the girl possess. It is weird.
Has anyone seen it? I found the opening on YouTube and nostalgia'd hard.
Also, it's got a score of 9.5/10 on IMDb.
I've seen like the first 5 episodes, maybe less. They were still on the ship when I left off. Show's really hard to come by.
You know, there's going to be a film version sometime next year. That's why they're planning to reboot the series in 2011. I hope the movie is actually good, and doesn't end up some straight-to-DVD bargain bin item.
Yeah, I just saw that on Wikipedia, made me excited. They better not mess it up.
