Andrew WK attempts 24 hour world drumming record on LiveStream

The O Music Awards have been known to break records each year with incredible musical feats. In 2011, rapper Chidera "Chiddy" Anamege broke the record for longest freestyle. In 2012, The Flaming Lips broke the record for most multi-city shows played in 24 hours. In 2013, party fiend Andrew W.K. attempts to break the record for longest drum session in a retail store.

You can check out the live stream at their main site: http://www.omusicawards.com/
Several other percussionists join him, but he's the one playing mainly throughout the entire 24 hour set. It's hour 18 now, and dude looks like he's close to shitting himself.
of course its W.K. doing whatever he can to get famous
Not available in your country. oh neat

So is he like seriously playing like a normal rock style for 24 hours?
1 hour of some good drumming is a big fucking work out as it is, 24 hours of that I can't imagine at all.

I never got the chance to see the first few hours but I'd imagine he did that for a while, but right now he's working as an accessory drummer to a big jamaican style jam. He looks like he's about to die.
About 3 hours ago some fat guy walked up to the window, put on a statue of liberty hat, pulled up his shirt, and started smacking his belly all while talking on a phone. He did it for like 10 minutes until a guy came around the corner and made him move.
Man you can really tell how tired he is.
I was watching this until I saw there was a cat stage :v:
people in the uk cant watch it
The other streams are quite strange

Yea, what the fuck

The one stream in the control center is pretty neat, seeing them announce and switch to different cameras, giving instructions to the cameramen
And you don't have to see a lot of that weird cat lady they had there
That cat is spreading.

In all honesty the slow steel drum and the slow drumming is relaxing and reminds me of some vacations at some beachside restaurants.
C'mon Andrew, smack those drums, you can do better than this!
I'm really annoyed that I can't watch it. Andrew WK is awesome.
He stopped drumming for a few minutes, but the steel drumming is nice. I love steel drums.
Edit: He started again.
He cant drum for shit.

Seeing how he's a mainly a one man band on the records, I could say that he knows what he's doing.
Might be the fact that he's been drumming for the past 18 hours.

You wanna try drumming for 19 hours?
Then again, I really expected him to do a piano-spree before a drumming marathon.

I'm talking about the overall feel. He's very untight, and his rythms are pretty random.
I miss the days when he was a pissed off meat mountain that partied.

He should be coming out with a new album sometime this year, here's hoping it works out.
The mystery of the broken clock

Is it going to be in his old style? The difference is night and day. I stopped listening to him partly because he kinda became a shell of his former glory. It's like a whole different person almost. He still can shred a piano of course.

Feels jazzy to me.

That's cool. but I really think he's bad. The beat is very slow and chilled, but that doesn't make it tight. That's number one priority of a drummer, to be tight and consistent. No matter how simple a beat is, it's absolutely crucial to be tight, and he's all over the place.
His patterns makes no sense either, and not in a "advanced musician" way, just in a "what are you doing" way.
oh god the guy in the control room
22 23 21
23! 23!

I think at this point he's just hitting stuff to make sound to reach the 24 hours
I mean he stopped playing with the sticks and just tapped the drums lightly for like 5 minutes before

Still, he's been drumming for 19 HOURS without breaks or anything. He's probably thinking in his mind "shit I have like 5 hours, just 5 more hours", not perfect beats. Hell, not even any beats at all like said above.
looks like he's in rough shape.
I used to have 6 hour sessions and I got mega-tired
