http://www.cnn.com/2017/07/31/politics/north-korea-ejection-test-submarine-activity/index.html
The US military has detected "highly unusual and unprecedented levels" of North Korean submarine activity and evidence of an "ejection test" in the days following Pyongyang's second intercontinental ballistic missile launch this month, a defense official told CNN on Monday. An ejection test examines a missile's "cold-launch system," which uses high pressure steam to propel a missile out of the launch canister into the air before its engines ignite. That helps prevent flames and heat from the engine from damaging either the submarine, submersible barge or any nearby equipment used to launch the missile. Carried out on land at Sinpo Naval Shipyard, Sunday's ejection test is the third time this month -- and fourth this year -- that North Korea has conducted a trial of the missile component that is critical to developing submarine launch capabilities, according to the US defense official. Coupled with reports of increased submarine activity, news of another ejection test comes amid concerns over North Korea's launch of an intercontinental ballistic missile that appears to have the range to hit major US cities on Friday. Experts believe if Friday's test had been fired on a flatter, standard trajectory, it could have threatened cities like Los Angeles, Denver and Chicago.
we're fucked, it's been a good run
We need to invade North Korea soon or it will be too late ,it's almost the Fourth Reich already.
quick, keep doing nothing about it maybe that will fix it
we're fucked, it's been a good run
Nah. We have the best attack subs in the seas, designed to track down the best the Soviet Union ever came up with. NORK subs are too noisy and too low tech to evade them. Unless Orange in Chief decides to tweet their locations, anyway... Betchya we've already sent some redeploy orders out.
I like how we're willing to invade and totally destroy an entire region for decades over the actions of a handful of Arabs, but you can build and test nukes and actively declare your intent to annihilate us and our leaders just Tweet about it.

If NK didn't have China backing them up we'd probably have invaded by now. The Chinese might be slowly getting tired of NK doing stupid shit but I doubt enough to just allow the US to invade them.

Didnt the only reason the US gotten the atomic bomb first is because a certain german scientist deflected nazi germany?

Oh Christ, we're seriously going to have to have Donald Trump of all people handling the North Korea situation. Good God.

China seems to have reached a breaking point with North Korea, and would hopefully no longer aid in their defense should worse come to worst. Evidence suggests that Russia has moved to support North Korea's military interests in the meantime, however, which obviously poses a significant problem. North Korea is becoming an increasingly difficult threat to ignore, but the worry is that any attempt to directly engage them could lead to a much larger conflict. Even assuming that a larger nation does not come to NK's aid during a military engagement, there is then the fear of what kind of damage NK could do to our friends in South Korea, even during a relatively short engagement. If military action occurred between us, they would hold nothing back on taking SK down with them.
It comes. The beginning of the end.
So what? Leave them alone and they won't start shit. Any change would realistically have to come from inside. Or hell we could open trade with them and force them to open up. Any open conflict will cause unbelievable amounts of damage and destruction for little to no gain.
Aww ye- The end of the Korean war and then nuclear World War III! ...Let's not get too sensational yet.
I sincerely doubt any country is going to take NK's side if they do decide to declare war on the US.
North Korea relies entirely on being attacked. If they go in the offensive in any way, they would immediately lose any support outside of proxy stuff.
I think it is time to do something, anything at this point. They are becoming more capable by the day. Famous last words: "They couldn't hit an elephant at this distance." - John Sedgwick, then shot, moments later under the left eye and fell down dead.

a time when its not good to be in California
Yeah, I don't like the idea of NK subs off the coast of North America. I know that's not what this article says, but if they get submarine launch capabilities the only thing holding them back is our ability to track their subs.

The only way I could see russia stepping away from the north koreans is if north korea uses a nuke and gets its own country flattened by a few dozen ICBM's. There is no way the russians would want anything to do with the conflict if nukes start flying.
These threads are pathetic. I bet at this moment USA has a submarine in Kim's bathtub ready to strike, and a counter measure for anything NK could developed in the next 50 years. Or maybe all those billions that should have been spent on the defense budget went for booze and hookers and maintaining their Windows XP PCs ?
I dont see why China would support NK if they were invaded. Probably would feel relieved.
I dont see why China would support NK if they were invaded. Probably would feel relieved.
They wouldn't necessarily support NK, the would just be very against whoever invades. NK is their buffer between their border and the West. Why would the want the US on their doorstep?
the moment NK has plenty of submarines with sea-launch capable ICBM with nuclear or bio/chemical warhead it become WMD power and then it could in theory attack SK w/o USA doing anything unless USA actually does something and risk some of the WMD reach theirs soil/bases w/e it's similar situation discussed over lesser membership countries in NATO will the US, UK, France, Germany really care about eastern or central Europe if Russians rolls over ?

As a counter espionage tactic, we generally only know the theater of operations for our nuclear subs. We might have a better idea if they are given specific tasks, like protecting a carrier group, but beyond that we literally don't know. In short: we allow nuclear armed invisible silent killing machines to roam entire oceans with zero supervision.
Apparently north Korea's missile tests are interfering in passenger plane flight paths. https://www.google.com/amp/s/amp.cnn.com/cnn/2017/08/02/asia/north-korea-aviation-risks/index.html Things are not looking good, but hopefully this doesn't mean anything. I'm praying though.
quick, keep doing nothing about it maybe that will fix it
b-b-but the post-war situation I'd rather there actually be a post-war situation at all, personally.
