It's a two man race now - Gingrich drops out of the race, leaving Romney and Paul
Washington (CNN) – Newt Gingrich will officially end his bid for the Republican presidential nomination and formally express his support for Mitt Romney next week, two sources close to Gingrich tell CNN.
While details are still being worked out, Gingrich is likely to hold his final campaign event Tuesday in Washington, DC where he will make the announcement surrounded by his family and supporters.
It is not surprising that Gingrich is suspending his campaign for the White House as he has all but acknowledged it is winding down and Romney is the presumptive GOP nominee.
"When he says he is transitioning, what he means is that he is trying to determine as a citizen how he will pro-actively help Mitt Romney become president and the Republican Party win back the Senate and help (House Speaker) John Boehner keep his majority in the House," said one of the sources, who spoke on the condition of anonymity.
It appears that Gingrich's focus will be much broader than the presidential campaign, as the former speaker, who made his name and career in the House, plans to be actively involved in helping the GOP take back control of both sides of Capitol Hill.
"It is not enough to beat Barack Obama, we also have to help the Republican Party keep the majority in the House and win back the majority in the Senate," the source said.
The decision to hold the event next week was due to logistical reasons, the sources said.
Maybe they'll all drop out, and have no Republican candidate. That would be awesome
Good. The fat fuck's probably still pretending that he's won though.
Ron paul would be best. Obama second-best. At least there's only four years left for Obama. Romney can go on for eight, and he's the exact same guy.
Fuck, that means no more moon-base!

Yeah! Let's become a 1 party system, that'll work great.

Space X will probably get us there eventually
Romney is a total asshat and I hope he loses.

No, while I agree with him on a few things, he's against some stuff that should not even have to be discussed about and decided bad or immoral just because of his opinion. He wants gays not to have civil unions, which is bullshit, I sorta get the feeling he's not against gays being together, but hell, just let them get married, who gives a shit. He's very fervent on being pro-life, he supports stem-cells, which is not a surprise, now that they don't need fetuses anymore to extract them. He also things global warming is an insignificant problem. He wants medical care to be free or very low rates for people without insurance, and wants to get rid of medicaid and medicare, guess it's a start.
Although he things research in a free society should be done privately and not get government funding. I could go into more, but, hope you get the picture, the best candidates aren't even that good.

There is other parties you know. Maybe you should know more about your government so an Australian doesn't need to tell you you're an idiot
Romney has no positions on anything. He follows the money/votes.

Yeah, like the Modern Whig Party and the Green Party.
Don't be a pretentious asshat.

Nobody really cares about third parties though.
I don't really like any of them anyway.
This is basically the worst election since... well, since before I was born, at least.

From what I heard, the Libertarian Party with Gary Johnson is gaining enough momentum to be able to participate in the national presidential debates come this fall.
I think it has been obvious for a while now that Romney would be the Republican presidential candidate.
It's just a matter of how long Ron Paul can pretend to have a chance now.
Fuck, that means no more moon-base!
The only idea of his I liked. Except he worded it horribly.
It's a fargone hope but I'd like to see Ron Paul beat Romney, if only to see worlds collide when Ron debates with Obama.
Yeah! Let's become a 1 party system, that'll work great.
like the one in which both parties have the country divided by still miracoulously representing almost exactly the same values, pretty much forming a one party system that exists to merely serve the illusion of choice to an undereducated, sedated society?
like the one that's already present today or what?

Yeah I'd like to see him debate someone who isn't completely insane ala Gingrich or Santorum but I wouldn't want him to win.
Yeah I'd like to see him debate someone who isn't completely insane ala Gingrich or Santorum but I wouldn't want him to win.
Well if you don't want any of them to win you just pick the one that'll actually hold his own in a debate against Obama, simply for interest's sake. In this case, it's Ron Paul. Romney will just bring the typical rhetoric and buzzwords political bases love so much; at least Ron can provide something of substance.
I guess he divorced his campaign,
As much as I don't like Ron Paul's politics, I really hope he puts up a good fight against Romney (which does not make sense since Romney would do a better job than Paul...).

There is just something about a guy who has been an underdog for decades that makes you want him to win!
Fuck them all.
SpaceX is a means for NASA to get there. There's nothing on the moon to create incentive for private enterprise anyway. Unless we build an amusment park or something ala' Futurama.
SpaceX bids on gov't contracts, they don't do that kind of thing on their own.
Such a buzzkiller.
Yeah! Let's become a 1 party system, that'll work great.
Already have that. Republicans and Democrats are two sides of the same coin.

This reads like some paranoid conspiracy bullshit. Seriously:

the fact that you call this a "race" is interesting
that any of these republicans think they've got a shot at winning is adorable
Ron Paul 2012
