To those of you who have been professionally or self diagnosed, when did you realize you were battling some kind of mental instability? Was there some moment where you realized things just didn't feel right? What prompted you to go to a professional for help? I'm trying to figure out what exactly it is that I'm dealing with, but it feels like I'm losing grip on what's going on around me. I don't know what to call it. I never used to be like this, but just a few years ago things started blurring together and it feels like it's getting worse. Does this sound familiar to anyone? >Trouble sleeping, have to take assorted meds (Drenatrophin PMG, Valerian Root). >Suddenly become OCD about numbers, organization, locks on doors, noises from my car, noises in the fan motor keeping me awake while I'm sleeping. Noises and people seem like they exist only to bother me. >Time passes significantly quicker, events become less vivid, feels like I'm never quite 100% awake. The day passes and I don't remember any of it, as if I was asleep the entire time. >Start becoming OCD about my own symptoms. >Vague thoughts of suicide, can't convince myself why I shouldn't do it because the concept doesn't bother me anymore. >Feel like I'm going insane, nothing seems real and I'm asking myself if anything I'm doing is real almost constantly. >If I stare at an object, often a person's face long enough, I begin seeing a sort of tunnel vision picture where their head becomes small and everything else becomes blurred/distorted like you're looking at them through a magnifying glass. Eventually I snap out of it and wonder what the fuck I was doing. Not to sound like an emotional emo faggot here, I just can't figure out if that merits seeking professional help or not. I don't think I'd really kill myself but the thoughts keep passing through my mind and I can't logically convince myself it's not a viable option. I don't do drugs, the worst I do is smoke salvia occasionally, and that's only once every few months. So facepunch, what's going on here?
ask a doctor
That's fucking creepy. Go to a doctor.
this is an entirely normal part of being 12 years old everything is going to be okay for you, trust me.
iam sorry but it seems you have a tumor or split personalties
Sounds like existential angst.
That's fucking creepy. Go to a doctor.
I can't exactly go to a doctor until I have an idea of what's going on.
I can't exactly go to a doctor until I have an idea of what's going on.
why don't you just tell him what you told us? this thread is just silliness I mean really
why don't you just tell him what you told us?
Obviously OP is a tool shed.
You sound like your symptoms(at least some) are just the product of your imagination as you grow up. About all except for the sleep, can't quite understand that. Are you going through a period of change right now? Or the other extreme - Do you feel you're stuck in a rut?
why don't you just tell him what you told us? this thread is just silliness I mean really
Because oddly enough I feel as though facepunch would offer logical enough answers than going to a clinic and getting loaded up on meds and a 600$ bill.
You're a wizard ashten!

I've been proffesionally diognose with depression and anxiety, I have the same symptoms as you, so I just blame it on then and accept the fact I'm a nutjob.
What do you mean?
Is there stress about where you are in life right now? I know when I had a massive change or rut in my life it affected me in ways similar. The sleep, people all being annoying, time feeling too fast, etc.

Could be Depression? and it also sounds like you have a bit of Depersonalisation. Wikipedia it. Also most people have some kind of OCD.
Sounds like hypochondria with a side-order of puberty. You'll get over it.
You sound like your symptoms(at least some) are just the product of your imagination as you grow up.
I could easily argue OCD, post-traumatic stress disorder and schizophrenia are a product of your imagination. Just because it's related to the mind, it doesn't mean its not something undesirable.
I could easily argue OCD, post-traumatic stress disorder and schizophrenia are a product of your imagination. I stated my opinion that this sounds like your typical case of hypochondria. Because he asked for my opinion. You're argumentative.

You were actually born female and your parents covered it up. It's trying to come out. Okay but seriously, see a doctor, give him this list of symptoms, at least he can help with the insomnia.
Could be Depression? and it also sounds like you have a bit of Depersonalisation. Wikipedia it. Also most people have some kind of OCD.
Searched it, read about it and it seems to answer some of these things.
The symptom of depersonalization is the third most common psychological symptom, after feelings of anxiety and feelings of depression. Depersonalization can also accompany sleep deprivation (often occurring when suffering from jet lag), migraine, obsessive-compulsive disorder, stress, and anxiety; it is a symptom of anxiety disorders, such as panic disorder. Interoceptive exposure is a non-pharmacological method that can be used to induce depersonalization.
I have heard many people say that prescribed medicine gives them bad side effects that can lead to things like depression etc Maybe its the medicine you are taking? Any major changes in your life recently? Things you need to get used to? Work? School? [editline]2nd December 2010[/editline]
Searched it, read about it and it seems to answer some of these things.
A good friend of mine had it a while ago. Made me sad to see him how it turned out. He is okay now. Took him around a month maybe two to kick it. My friend backs up my previous claim about medicine as he thinks it was the hay fever medicine he was given that cause his Depersonalization.

No major changes, none.
Mind if I ask your age?
15
15
It may be puberty then? It does rough things to you. Combined with something like depersonalization maybe?
