I'm surprised this is still not posted here. That's just terrifying, it's been almost 24 hours and it looks like it's still exploding.
In the early hours on Thursday, military warehouses in Balakliya, Kharkiv Region, were caught on fire which followed by the detonation of ammunition, the State Service for Emergency Situations said in a release on 23 March. About 15 thousand people are being evacuated from the possible danger zone, including the city of Balakliya and nearby settlements. The movement of passenger transport along the railway station of Balakliya is halted and organized according to an emergency plan. The Chief Military Prosecutor Anatoly Matios said the explosion and fire were caused by sabotage at 3am local time. "According to preliminary information of the investigative-prosecutorial group of military prosecutors of the Kharkiv garrison and the investigation department of the SBU in Kharkov Region working on the scene […]. There was an explosion and a fire broke out at several sites of the storage of rocket and artillery weapons (125- and 152-mm armoured and artillery shells), which caused the detonation of munitions," Matios wrote in facebook . The largest munitions arsenal in Ukraine with the total area of 368 hectares stored 138 thousand tons of ammunition. The most dangerous of them are the shells for the self-propelled guns Acacia, with the impact zone of up to 20 km. The audio around 2:10 sounds like it was lifted straight out of a STALKER game.
Pretty fucking poor job at keeping it safe i have to say
Sounds like the prelude to an invasion. Watch for Russian incursions.
I wonder how that started......
The audio around 2:10 sounds like it was lifted straight out of a STALKER game.
Sounds like a straight-up rip of the sound that arrives when an emission is happening :v:
Sounds like the prelude to an invasion. Watch for Russian incursions.
Not even a page in and we already got the first assumption that it was subjucation by the russians so they can invade Ukraine, rather than say, the ukrainians own ineptitude.
Not even a page in and we already got the first assumption that it was subjucation by the russians so they can invade Ukraine, rather than say, the ukrainians own ineptitude.
Russia doing this wouldn't be surprising at all.

Clever observation.
Is there a live stream?
Jesus, that's a big blow for the Ukrainian army.
Welp... there goes 7.62x54R prices
imagine if there were nuclear weapons there
imagine if there were nuclear weapons there
Nothing would happen?
http://fish12a.livejournal.com/1873580.html apparently pictures of the depot before explosion
that is a bunch of explosives just sitting out in the yard is this how weapon depot usually look? [editline]23rd March 2017[/editline]
Nothing would happen?
oh you know what i mean
http://fish12a.livejournal.com/1873580.html apparently pictures of the depot before explosion
All that shit stored out in the open, jesus.
http://fish12a.livejournal.com/1873580.html apparently pictures of the depot before explosion
That doesn't look secure at all. Piece of cake for a saboteur
2:54 a missile takes off, and lands on or near a house at 3:15
Jesus, that's a big blow for the Ukrainian army.
Aren't these places only for old weapons no one uses anymore? The stuff in those images posted looks kind of rusted and outdated.
Shit's fucked, poor people.
2:54 a missile takes off, and lands on or near a house at 3:15
Didn't explode though, detonator didn't set it off it seems like. Probably didn't cause too much damage.
Those missiles flying off are scary as fuck
Aren't these places only for old weapons no one uses anymore? The stuff in those images posted looks kind of rusted and outdated.
It's only the stuff that's in the open, most of the ordnance had to have been underground.
It's only the stuff that's in the open, most of the ordnance had to have been underground.
shouldn't have had any of it out in the open that's a goddamn public safety hazard
Sounds like the prelude to an invasion. Watch for Russian incursions.

I wonder how that started......
Ukraine claims Russian Saboteurs, but I would take that with a grain of salt. It is interesting to note this happened the same day as the former Russian lawmaker's assassination.
shouldn't have had any of it out in the open that's a goddamn public safety hazard
Obviously. I'm pointing out that it's not all of it that was in the pictures.
http://fish12a.livejournal.com/1873580.html apparently pictures of the depot before explosion
I love how they painted their fire tanks red.
All that shit stored out in the open, jesus.

shouldn't have had any of it out in the open that's a goddamn public safety hazard
Exactly what I fucking said, I WORK at one of the largest ammo depots in the Pacific and all that shit rusting out in the open just makes cringe. I wonder how many people died or were injured from ammo misfires because the ammo fired was a rusted shit sandwich.
It's only the stuff that's in the open, most of the ordnance had to have been underground.
Munitions that are left out in the open can become less stable, making them much more dangerous to handle or it can cause the weapon to fire improperly and become a danger to the crew. Remember those vidoes of ISIS guys with old soviet mortors and they'd drop a 50 year old rusted out round into a mortor tube and it exploded killing everyone? Same thing.
How do you even handle a situation like that? Wait for everything to stop blowing up? It seems extremely dangerous for anyone to try and deal with it.
How do you even handle a situation like that? Wait for everything to stop blowing up? It seems extremely dangerous for anyone to try and deal with it.
Loose ammo detonating isn't actually that dangerous, but yeah, just letting it finish by itself before going in is standard procedure for both this and firework storage fires afaik.
