A Kansas furniture store owner is closing up shop and leaving town, but not before he tells other residents what he thinks about them.
Bob Fyfe, the owner of Payless Furniture in Lawrence, has polarized the community by posting signs on a large truck in his store parking lot that attack the town.
The main sign reads; 'Lawrence: Commie and Candy Ass Capitol [sic] of Kansas. Goodbye Obamaville.'
Fuck this guy, he's had a 'going out of business' sign on his door for ten years and still sells shit furniture. How does that even happen?
Glad to see him go.

It seems like furniture stores are either super successful or doomed to fail.
Ive always been fascinated by the american republican mindset, Not that i think much higher of the democrat side.
But the whole teapartier/rabid Neocon shit is just amazing, That people who barely have a pot to piss in can be convinced that the rich people shouldn't be taxed, and the government helping people in a practical way is as bad as communism, its a testament to something, but i dont know exactly what. This all assuming he is angry about the whole obamacare thing.
Am I the only one angered by all this "Obama = Communist" shit?

The difference between the two sides of american political mindsets can be summarized as two guys who has had BO for so long that he can no longer smell it
the Right wing doesn't realize he smells like shit so he acts superior to the guy who smells like shit beside him
the left wing doesn't realize he smells like shit so he acts superior to the guy who smells like shit beside him
Neither of them have asked anyone if they have BO as well
[editline]21st May 2015[/editline]
Neither will accept that they may smell too when it is proposed to them

I'm going to wager it's anger he went out of business due to """the economy""" and how it has been hurting small businesses (OP said he's been "going out of business" for 10 years? That started around the height/falloff of the legit crisis). Probably kept the sign up when he recovered to make a political statement. Had a tiny Sears Outlet building (privately owned? it was like a true value store having a garage sale) do that for about 5 years by me, out of business sign up but never placed a date or packed up. Had to get shut down for something
but then again, you assume he actually has knowledge of actual things happening around him to actually articulate a stance. People who reach extreme NOBAMA IS A COMMUNIST t-shirts and bumper stickers and signs tend to be the ones who'd just say "because it's bad" if you asked what they didn't like about a thing
It's a weird caricature to draw, but I see it rather frequently when I travel into Wisconsin. Just the other week I was at a grocery store out there (in 85 degree heat) and there was this dude who looked like the dad from That 70's Show with a giant white turtleneck on, with the red text "I lived through communism, and trust me: it wasn't that great!" with "NOBAMA" on the back, the O being that communist sickle/hammer logo.
I just couldn't tell you what would drive me to act like that, even if G.W.Bush managed to weasel back in and invade canada I don't think I'd reach "I will wear this turtleneck til I die of heatstroke because obamacare is hitler and won't save me" levels
surprised the term "Obammunist" didn't make an appearance

Well i suppose the root of what i dont get with this, is how can someone know what the fucking undeniable forensic truth is, and lie to him/herself to uphold their political view.
I mean im sure i do that too on some minor level, but for instance to take a base-ass bare-bones step towards a public health system meant to alleviate a completely shit-mired monopolistic corporate healthcare system, that has resulted in what has to be millions of cases of unnecessary human suffering. Look at that and say, "No, it would inconvenience the inbred mega-billionaires who seem to do nothing but actively make it harder for me to live."
Its so fucking bizarre.

I think it was a comedian who made a joke that the reason so many poor Americans side with the wealthy, and big business, is because Americans think of ourselves as millionaires who just happen to be in a tough spot right now. If you think that the day is coming when you will be wealthy, you will be against taxing the wealthy. If you think you have a place in business, then you will be against taxing or regulating business.
I myself also attribute it to religion and social policy. For instance, maybe a poorer person would find people on the liberal side have more to offer them EXCEPT people on the liberal side also are pro-choice, for gun control, and tolerant of other religions/sexual orientation/etc. If you are poor but strongly Christian in mindset, anti-abortion, anti-gay right, pro gun ownership- that's all conservative stuff. The Republican party is the party for all that. That's why they say politics makes strange bedfellows.

fear mongering around "big science/government/pharma" is pretty powerful. Being told not to trust the people who understand the facts (IE doctors are TOTALLY lying to keep the masses sickly) makes it hard to find "legit" facts from anyone but the one guy telling you what is or is not a lie

Not to spite or insult you ofcourse, but that narrative kinda implies these people are not at fault. There is absolutely no excuse for not being informed in the information age. It has literally never been easier to figure shit out for yourself than it is now. And if a person has no trust or stake in society, (eg, Scientific institutions, public libraries/archives, whatever) it is conceited to think that society should give a flying fuck about what this person thinks of it.
Someone's a Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson fan...
Those darn commies

We are in the Information Age, yes, but social media has provided an outlet for certain illegitimate individuals to start what I like to call the "Mis-Information Age".

Here in Denmark our legal institution is built around something called 'Bonus pater familias', means 'the good family father'. Its basically a baseline of responsibility to assert that the reasonable human can be expected to know.
In other words, no excuses, its your responsibility. So maybe its a cultural difference, but i see a misinformed human as someone who did not own up to their responsibility of being informed.
Wait... there's americans that still use "commie" as a political insult? still?

These stupid vague metaphors about how the left and right wings are the same are the most annoying and untrue things I hear about American politics. Can you actually name some legitimate differences or similarities between the two parties that make a difference?
That's actually really awesome, you're store about to fail and you're pissed? Go out guns blazing.
If only he pulled himself up by the bootstraps and worked harder his store would've not closed. What a lazy bum, closing shop and fucking off when it gets too hard, the typical shitlib way. I'll admit, "Commie & Candy ass capitol of Kansas" is a very nice alliteration with a nice homophobic ring to it.

As an outsider looking in, the notion that both the Democrat and Republican parties are equally bad is the greatest fast one the Republicans have ever pulled on the American public.

It's mostly unsafe to believe that any political ideal is 100% perfect. Remember when they sensationalized the whole assault weapon debacle?
As an outsider looking in, the notion that both the Democrat and Republican parties are equally bad is the greatest fast one the Republicans have ever pulled on the American public.
Yeah that notion is a really dumb one, especially here since a lot of people buy into it. The Republicans want to restrict gay rights; think global warming is a conspiracy; believe all economic problems are solved by lower taxes on the rich; want to outlaw abortion; despise universal healthcare; think the military is still too small; hate the idea of secularism in politics, and a bunch of other garbage.
Mean while, the Democrats want to...Restrict your access to guns? That's really about it. It confuses me too when I see so many people express the fact they'd rather have any Republican president than Hillary Clinton, because there's a couple things about her character they dislike. So obviously the solution is to vote in someone with beliefs entirely contrary to everything you believe in as a result?
I really think the whole, "Both parties are equally shit," line of thinking just makes them feel intelligent. They believe they're past the partisanship of the American political system, and capable of looking at both sides equally unlike the' 'sheeple' who cling to one or the other.
Am I the only one angered by all this "Obama = Communist" shit?
if you are he's won
he shook up your jim jams and disturbed your jerries
It's times like these i ask myself whether any American truly knows what socialism or communism is?
Are both of those words just buzzwords to them?

Exactly. They don't know anything about what they're talking about, so they try to make a clever, ambiguous remark that could apply to anything.

Both sides are bought and paid for by corporations and both are horrible on constitutional rights.. The only difference?
The left gives piecemeal to the bottom class in form of social welfare.
As for those who disagree with both sides?
There isn't a third option nor there is a media outlet that informs people on such an opinion.
Of course their views are unformed. The people who left or right have media outlets that inform them of the issue yet in a very skewed way.
I also noticed when I am talking to conservatives, they think I'm a damned liberal. When I talk to the left, I'm a damned conservative..…
Please explain this to me. Its like people are unable to fathom any ideas or views outside the two. Why is this?
