A first hand report from the veteran run website Grunt Stuff, who says they have already verified the claims with multiple witnesses, tells the story of an Army Ranger who got a confirmed terrorist kill with nothing but his MRE spoon at the Haditha Dam in Iraq.

Only being a few feet away the ranger rushed him and engaged into hand to hand combat. As they wrestle on the ground the ranger is unable to pull his knife because his kit kept getting in the way. The only thing he had at the ready was a MRE spoon he had stashed in the MOLLE of his kit. He grabbed the spoon and prison shanked that son of a bitch in the neck until he was dead.
Fucking badass
Throat pierced by a plastic spoon. What a way to go.
Fucking brave move
"Try to remember the basics of CQC"
Seriously though that must have been crazy. I can only imagine the trauma hes going to have from that.

fucking metal
i doubt this even happened considering the source is absolute garbage

practically every news outlet is garbage nowadays. ive heard crazier combat stories, i could link you a million other bullshit links from cnn and fox news
i dont know if i believe it but thats called selective bias right there
why do you believe mainstream news outlets anymore than this when all theyre after is ratings? aside from the point though, what im saying is when you go down that road you can start nulling everything else. as long as they give verifiable sources i don't see it as any less valid
then you can decide for yourself whether you believe it or not
It reads like a real professional journalist article until
He grabbed the spoon and prison shanked that son of a bitch in the neck until he was dead.
But not complaining :v:
I guess you gotta do what you got to do when it comes to survival, but this seems like a pretty grim thing to celebrate or glorify. It will probably haunt him for the rest of his life.

Yes, what you are showing is an extreme bias to the right, but as long as these events happened then you have no reason to doubt this articles occurrence.

He's an army ranger, not a national guardsmen. No offense to guardsmen but heavy combat is sort of expect from these guys.

I suppose so, sure. I just can't imagine walking away from shit like this without some deep mental wounds. I have a hard time believing that any amount of training can teach you how to sleep without nightmares after throating somebody with a spoon.

army rangers are human too despite their training

Training or not, killing someone fucks you up. Even long range kills really hurt the killer unless they are a psychopath.

i cant find anything else about this anywhere, that's why im doubting the story
People will reach for any "weapon" they can get their hands on in a CQC situation. There was a Gurkha who bludgeoned a member of the Taliban to death with a machine gun tripod and a soldier who beat an insurgent to death with his SAPI body armor plate in Iraq.
I bet he really enjoyed that spoon
i cant find anything else about this anywhere, that's why im doubting the story
yeah it seemed questionable to me at first, im guessing its gonna pick up very soon

yeah, it seems weird that people would doubt this considering you know, war. one of my brother's ncos beat a dude to death with his helmet when he was houseclearing, so idk i feel like stuff like this isn't that uncommon. the article gets kinda insensitvely america with "KILLIN DAT DER SONOFABITCH" at the end
I'm still a bit skeptical that a plastic spoon is able to mortally wound another human being
imean, they're basically these things

unless he gouged his opponent's eyes out or something
He's an army ranger, not a national guardsmen. No offense to guardsmen but heavy combat is sort of expect from these guys.
I've read many war memoirs of WW2 commandos and SAS members who spent their entire careers Shanking German soldiers with a Fairbairn Sykes, most of them said it was the worst thing they ever had to do to another human being and a lot were haunted by the blood curdling cries and gurgling of the people they killed many years after the war had finished. And remember this was with a special dedicated knife, not a spoon.

if you shatter the tip you get a razor sharp ABS shank

Unless those are the ones used for Army Rangers in deployment, I am doubting that they would allow ranger to deploy with spoons/forks/etc which are not of metal.
If those are the ones in use, then they are probably reinforced plastic and just as well may be durable enough to shank others.

I can't tell if this is ironic or not.

if people in prison can do it with toothbrushes im sure any other soldier or human being can figure something out with a spoon
without dismissing that, id argue that enough adrenaline can do some pretty rad things
im betting this story was def changed up a bit though
mre spoons are pretty durable but i doubt you could really shank someones throat with them without sharpening the hell out of them beforehand
Break off the spoon part and its pretty sharp. Necks pretty vulnerable anyway.

And this is based on what exactly?
I am doubting that they would allow ranger to deploy with spoons/forks/etc which are not of metal.
Metal spoons are more expensive, heavier, conduct heat faster, noisier and can reflect light, giving away someone's position. Plastic doesn't have any of these problems.

Leave it to BDA to send someone on a guilt trip for praising something that is obviously badass.
