• "George Lucas’ Original “The Star Wars” Screenplay to Get Comic Book Treatment"
Written in 1974, the original draft of what ultimately became the epic franchise's first screenplay is quite a different adventure than the one from the galaxy far, far away that was immortalized on screen. Luke Skywalker is an older Jedi general, while charismatic smuggler Han Solo is a lizard-type alien. The story’s main protagonist is named Annikin Starkiller. There aren’t even light-sabers. Instead, there are “laser-swords.” "This is not an April Fools joke," said Dark Horse Comics' Randy Stradley, who will edit the book. "This is a real thing; it's really happening."
http://www.nbcnewyork.com/entertainment/entertainment-news/NATL-George-Lucas-Original-The-Star-Wars-Screenplay-to-get-Comic-Book-Treatment-200863051.html Interested in how it turns out and how much its different from the "original" we all know.
So we'll have a comic book adaptation of the star wars script at every point in its development. I guess someone'll buy it.

I somehow vaguely remember this as being old news, but I'm still looking forwards to it. Maybe then they'll continue and do the original versions of ESB and ROTJ too.
Is George Lucas only known for star wars?
Is George Lucas only known for star wars?
American Graffiti is about the only well known film that Lucas did.
As soon as I saw the name 'Starkiller' I immediately thought of this: As good an excuse as any share I suppose.
Will this include Luke's family name being Starkiller instead of skywalker ?
American Graffiti is about the only well known film that Lucas did.
Don't forget THX-1138
Will this include Luke's family name being Starkiller instead of Starwalker ?
Uh Skywalker Right?
Howard the Duck
Uh Skywalker Right?
Right, mixed things up a bit. But shit Starkiller is a pretty cool name. A bit too foreshadowing because HEY LUKE DESTROYS A DEATH STAR HOW CONVENIENT IS IT THAT IT'S HIS FAMILY NAME but still. By the way wasn't the very first script of Star Wars actually about Mace Windu ?
I love stuff like this, so I'm eager to see what comes of it. I believe I read that, in early drafts, everyone had "laser swords," even Stormtroopers. This could be cool.
I can't wait for C3PO and R2D2 the used care dealers!
But, the original star wars script is literally worse than fucking slash fiction. It's goddamn horrible :v: [editline]9th April 2013[/editline] To have an idea about how much they changed, literally 5 percent of the script is in the movie.

Giving Lucas free reign is what gave us the prequels.
Yeah this is going to be a bad thing. Giving Lucas free reign is what gave us the prequels.
He fucking hates the Originals and tries to dice them up as best and subtly as he can because he had like no control over any of it beyond the first movie and just got slapped around by the production team for having stupid as shit ideas. You know what happens when you let Lucas have control? Fucking Indiana Jones 4 monkey fighting.
American Graffiti is about the only well known film that Lucas did.
Indiana Jones?
Indiana Jones?
He had barely any part in them and Spielberg did most of the movie. If you watch any of the interviews, Spielberg makes fun of Lucas's shitty ideas any time he's mentioned.
Where is Gary Kurtz to stop the stupid choices?
He had barely any part in them and Spielberg did most of the movie. People combated his shitty ideas even during ANH.
The same could be said about the Original Trilogy. People combated his shitty ideas even during ANH.
Hehe. I said that literally two posts up.
Hehe. I said that literally two posts up.
Sorry, didn't see that. He more or less didn't do anything, but was more or less the marketer for his brands.
The thing I hate most about the fact that Lucas had very little creative control in the original trilogy is that whenever you look at any of the special features in the new trilogy, every crew member, actor, etc just cannot stop sucking his dick and talking about how he, ALONE, was the great driving force behind the original trilogy. Also, I would be interested in purchasing this, if only to laugh at it and look at what might have been.

"The Star Wars" sounds like what someone who doesn't know what Star Wars is would say.
This sounds pretty interesting, I'm kind of disappointed that they're not doing it in a old style.
Is George Lucas only known for star wars?
Yes. That is all he is known for.
