I did MUN as a Freshman. I hated it with a firey passion. Ironically, I became a Policy debater my Junior year.
That's indeed quite ironic. Why'd you hate it?
It was a requirement for all Freshmen at my school. I hated it because at the time I had no interest in politics, and it was essentially forced on us. If I were to try it again, I believe I could tolerate it, but it's just not my cup of tea. I prefer evidence-heavy two-on-two debate, rather than a large forum.

I myself am a big fan of writing speeches so either way it's great for me. Either way, your experience also heavily depends on what committee your in. I was in the North Atlantic Council last time, which was AMAZING. Small group, great issues, great debates.
Participated in OMUN for the past two years for Afghanistan and then Libya Pre-revolution.

Well really, with the OMUN it's just a Ohio Model United Nations (Hince the name) so it was all done in Ohio, our school has us look more onto the current problems of the countries, and then figure out what would be the best possible way to fix said problems given the countries current resources. Experience of it was just learning a lot about the countries and political debates. Pretty self explanatory.
Sounds like the basic MUN to me. What did you guys come up with for which problems? And were there seperate committees?
There were separate committees for each country that was represented at the time. And for the problems the only one I call fully remember was concerning Gaddafi... And well, problem solved?
What solution did you guys make up for Gadaffi? Anything similar to the actual thing?
I wanted to join my old school's MUN team but I moved. But I did do the Yearbook page for the MUN class. It was pretty cool.

Best part about SC MUN is acting like a complete schitzo - pour shit all over other nations in speaking, then concede to them in negotiations just to get resolutions through.
My school was going to sign up to do model UN, but we would only be able to be a tiny nation, ala Swaziland :v:
I did it in 6th grade. Liechtenstein represent!
Every year the local university holds a Model UN for the 12 or two high schools in the surrounding area. First year I went as fucking Indonesia in some shitty room, and said fuck all. This year I went as Norway in a room that I have an interest in, regarding outer space law and regulations, and I got an honorable mention for my room for an award given to the individual in each room who best represents his or her country. (Don't ask how I managed to pull off a good representation of Norway for a room on space, I still don't really know.) I was happy enough with that, considering I didn't say anything last year. Next year: Security Council, motherfuckers. I'm hoping to be the head of the delegation for whatever SC nation our school gets next year. The same school gets the award for best delegation every single fucking year, and they're ALL HIPSTERS WITH THEIR LITTLE BLACK RIM GLASSES AND SHIT and it makes me irritated because a lot of them are snobby as fuck as well. I'll be content with finally offsetting their record in my last year of high school.
Norway FTW. And wait; Outer space regulations? There's a specific committee in your MUN for that? Go get 'm tiger.
