The patience that painter has is next to none.
Every time I see a video of some belligerent fuck, I feel bad for the guy filming. The shit some people have to deal with, jeez.
I wonder what was going on in the past 5 days and nights for the old man to react like that, it surely can't be the painter's fault lmao
"Can somebody please call the police" said the man holding a cell phone
"Can somebody please call the police" said the man holding a cell phone
He was trying to record the entire thing as evidence.
He was trying to record the entire thing as evidence.
he was also right next to the guy
can't really have him like, get up and start being crazy again and not having it recorded
He was trying to record the entire thing as evidence.
When the guy passed out he had all the evidence he needed.
When the guy passed out he had all the evidence he needed.
yeah, and he ended the recording to call the police
yeah, and he ended the recording to call the police
And he could have done that after he passed out?
the painter said in the comments that he kept recording to prove that he didn't move the old guy in case they broke their neck. kind of unnecessary but whatever. once the guy attacked with the shears, the painter's response was clearly justified
When the guy passed out he had all the evidence he needed.

As for why I did not want to stop recording and use my phone to call police. I was not recording for my protection from the old man coming after me. I was recording to prove I did not move him with a potential broken neck etc. after seeing he was breathing and blinking and moving his head I was not concerned about blocked airways. After the guy said they disabled his phone I immediately called 911 and they told me to stay away and let the medics handle it.
Why are you rating me dumb? I'm trying to explain.
Reminds me of that short hunchback man who went off at that sax street performer

Ironic that the old man who just wanted to get some sleep ended up getting it
Jesus H. Christ, hedge clippers?
Glad he got nearly conc'd just before he could actually hurt the guy with them.
Some of these comments are hilarious. Rather than respond to everyone's comments individually I'll just address some consistent questions...
As for recording vertically. I'm sorry. I wasn't filming for entertainment purposes I was filming to document.
As for the cutters breaking it appears they already had a loose handle which I did not know at the time.
As for punching him. I did not hit him. I gave him the old "this is Sparta" kick back and he must have hit his head on the way down.

It's obvious this guy has had problems with this individual before during that "five day" period.
Despite the old guy being an absolute prick (i.e: verbal offense, trying to take two attempts at this guy's life), hopefully he's alright.
The guy who said his phone was disabled so he couldn't call was BS he just didn't want to. All phones by law in the USA can dial 911, service or not
how'd he get knocked out?

Jesus christ, this is just sad. It's like something that would usually only slightly annoy him caught him the day after his wife left him or something like that and it just sent him over the edge.
i can't really blame the guy for doing anything due to just the emotions he was probably feeling then, but I feel that he would've been much better off just running or walking away from the hedge clippers guy instead of continuing to talk to him for a minute or two since he would've already been hit with defacing private property charges, and aggregating an already pissy old man ended up in a situation where he's probably going to be hit with an assault charge (which will ultimately get laughed out of court but would be much harder to deal with than the former) and also knocked out the dude and probably caused more damage to him (brought on by himself, yeah, but it still sucks.)
just a fair warning, in a situation like this it's always better just to peacefully get away from the situation, especially when the damage has already been done, and call the police if it's escalated to this level. then he's the only once facing charges against himself, and nobody gets hurt except the painting equipment.

He addressed this in the comments:
I did not walk away for two reasons.
1: I couldn't. The basket was against the wall of the building and I was strapped in with a harness. When I opened the door I did not approach him; he approached me and got in my face.
2: I was not going to allow this guy who does not appear to be the most upstanding gentleman in the town with no money vandalize my equipment and leave me stuck with the bill.
