This is actually an improvment on the stadium that Atlanta uses now. The Georgia Dome is entirely indoors and has seating too high up. Open air stadiums are ten times nicer and the seating seems to be more evened out. It does look dumb though.
It's like a sci-fi missile silo with that giant iris hatch on top.
