A teaser's a teaser, i'm interested to see how tom pulls this off.
One of the most underwhelming trailers I have seen, I know it's a teaser trailer but come on.
When he starts shaking near the end you can see symbiote marks on his neck. That said, what the hell is that New York accent?
Disney/Marvel: Here's a teaser trailer for Black Panther with fucking Wakandan flying saucers and T'Challa suited up and a doing a bad-ass flip over a crashing car. Sony: Here's a teaser trailer for Venom, where Venom doesn't even appear.

I love Tom Hardy as an actor but this just looks so underwhelming at a glance Also part of me kinda wishes he was Flash Thompson, I feel like he'd be perfect for Agent Venom. I'm game for Eddie Brock with the whole lethal protector thing too, just so long as the movie is... You know, good.
I just wanna point out to everyone in the thread, this film just got done filming and just went into post production, so i'm willing to bet that they don't wanna show him off just yet because it's still being worked on in post. Plus it's interesting to me that they showed off eddie first then blowing their load early for the venom money shot and are having people wait, kudos to them for doing that i guess. At least the logo looks good.
I'm excited for Tom Hardy's performance since he's yet to disappoint me. I'd like to think they've learned their lesson from the 3rd Spiderman film, so here's to hoping for at least a decent film.
Seems ok, not much to go off of but I'm glad they're getting someone like Tom Hardy for the role instead of someone like topher grace. I wonder if they're still going for a pg or pg-13 rating. I remember reading about them not wanting to have an R rating for this movie a while back when they were first talking about it.
Teaser trailer my ass this is almost 2 minutes. But then again trailers always sucked so
It's a Sony production so... uh... don't expect too much.
If we didn’t know this was called Venom, all I would be able to distinguish is that he’s getting revenge. On Cancer
is this mcu or? Does venom work without spiderman?
It could theoretically work if they just go the Ultimate Venom angle where the symbiote was an experimental project to cure cancer and Venom just kind of uses black tendrils and goop instead of webs. But the character does lose out without the connection to Spider-man.
My balls are tingling. I've been waiting so long for a Venom movie, and thankfully the time seems to have paid off. Took a long fucking time to get here, but like Rockstar when they delay stuff, I feel it's for a good reason. Tom Hardy himself is a huge fan of the character, so I trust him with the role, and it looks like it's not just another "hey here's another blockbuster movie with all of your favourites now give us your money you twats" and it's actually going to be for fans. The shuttle, the cancer, yeah I can dig this
I don't know about it looking good, I hope to god it is, because, same as you, I have been waiting a long time for a Venom movie. I love Venom as a character, so much so that I plan to get a back piece of him once I got enough money to go to a good artist.
Spiderman is integral to Venoms introduction though. He might grow to be his own character afterwards ala Agent Venom, but he needs that initial connection with Spidey or he might as well be Carnage, Toxin or any of the other Symbiotes.
Obligatory reminder that this is a Sony movie first and foremost. Don't wanna say it's bad before the movie is even out but yeah....don't hold your breath.
Can we please just get a borderline horror film starring Carnage?
Given the fact it's Tom Hardy, we'll probably see the Venom face for more than 3 seconds this time around.
Venom is an extremely fun character in that he's a complete neutral party and a goofball who will work with the good guys or the bad, which is interesting in that at the same time he's a brain eating muscle monster who feeds your negative emotions and terrifies literally everyone. I hope this trailer isn't the tone of the actual movie, because this could be a great chance for a darkly funny movie. If it were an Agent Venom movie though... that I'd love a straight action drama/horror tone. I trust Tom Hardy. I don't trust Sony at all though.
Venom is his own character, he doesn't need Spider-Man. The "Lethal Protector" arc of the Venom comics will be half of the story elements in the movie, and doesn't focus on Spider-Man primarily (he shows up later in the story tho).
the man is literally evil mirror spider-man. his whole point is being the antithesis for Spider-man and Peter. even like you said that independent arc STILL INVOLVED SPIDER-MAN This is a Sony movie disconnected from the MCU and about Spider-man's greatest nemesis and yang to his yin, and they've glossed over him existing at all Tom Hardy being involved actually makes me more angry, since a perfect casting is being wasted on this and will likely be replaced if Venom ever does make his way to the MCU. [editline]8th February 2018[/editline]
Can we please just get a borderline horror film starring Carnage?
Not too long ago Carnage got his own comic and it was like Alien if the Xenomorph was Carnage. It was pretty good until they had him fighting the Wolfman and other goofy shit [editline]8th February 2018[/editline]
Teaser trailer my ass this is almost 2 minutes. Spider-Man is still involved in his origin and is why he left New York for San Francisco but they're leaving it vague on the specifics (presumably) so that it can fit into the MCU if it does well or be dropped if it doesnt.
I like Tom Hardy but why does everyone seem to think that he'll make it a good movie? He'll give a good performance perhaps, but it's up to the writers not to fuck up the plot and dialogue.
god this just looks as dull and boring as can be. i get it's a teaser and special effects aren't done yet, but I can't shake the feeling that when the film is out someones gonna put together a montage of every time Venom was actually on screen and it's gonna be like, less than 2 minutes or some shit. also wtf is with teaser trailers having a teaser for the teaser trailer right before it starts?? what is the fucking point of that lol.

If it weren't for the title card I would have thought it's some shitty sci-fi horror starring some black goop.
I just want to see how they design Venom. I have no faith as long as Sony is in charge, but their design can range from 'wasted potential' to 'laughably bad'. How Sony gets great actors to star in their shit movies, I will never know.

Their twitter has been using a classic style Venom looking head for official stuff though and the eyes are about on point. [editline]8th February 2018[/editline] Also Tom Hardy is playing Venom through mocap so he'll probably be fuckhuge instead of the Spider-Man 3 twink.
I don't want people to support this film. If it does well Sony will think they can take their toys and pram and go do their own thing. If the film fails the MCU likely gets Spider-Man back.

[editline]8th February 2018[/editline] It's painful seeing my dream movie throughout my childhood and even now being stamped from modern Sony
