Charlie Hebdo finds controversy again with new cartoon
One cartoon shows debris falling on a member of Islamic State (IS) with a caption reading: "Russia's air force intensifies its bombing."
In the other, a skull and body parts of victims are depicted.
Dmitry Peskov, a spokesman for Vladimir Putin, called the cartoons published by the satirical magazine "sacrilege".
Agreed, would've been much funnier if it were a Polish airplane that crashed.
"This has nothing to do with democracy or self-expression," he said.
It has everything to do with democracy and self-expression.
"I should have taken air cocaine"
Should have called benezema's friends
Would be alright if it was at least funny, but it's not.

I thought it was funny.
I thought the bombing one was funny
the other one not as much but just because we still don't know that caused the crash
Pretty tasteless
The one they made that caused the shooting atleast had a point, but this is just dumb
I thought it was funny.
You would probably be raging the fuck out of it if it was done in less than a week after 9/11.
Does this mean I can celebrate terrorist attacks that happens in France now?
"France intensifies their homemade fireworks."
I'm not offended but this is pretty tasteless, especially when there still mourning families down the street from me.
I mean, if you're going to make a tasteless joke, at least make it at the expense of people that deserve it.
It is sort of funny though. In like a really fucking dark way.
CH never claimed to be a bastion of taste, I suppose
but calling that second picture a depiction of a 'skull and body parts' implies it's slightly more gruesome than it actually is
This is pretty much what Charlie Hebdo does. They've been in the news like what, 3 times now since the first shooting after never being in mainstream media before.
Part of their shtick is controversy.
Somebody drew a picture which means everything terrible that happens to France is now compeltely justified. I don't see any flaw in this logic, no
It's an attempt at same tastelessness. Had to give it a shot. ..Geddit? :v:
Also there's a typo in word 'completely'. 'e' is on wrong spot.
Je suis dumb unfunny cartoon
You would probably be raging the fuck out of it if it was done in less than a week after 9/11.
Who knows? I wasn't even 10 at that point.
However, knowing that Hebdo's schtick is to be as tasteless as possibly, it is pretty humorous. Essentailly, Hebdo is getting what it wants by all the outrage about this comic.
the Charlie Hebdo offices take some criticism *hail of bullets come through the window, killing everyone inside*
Agreed, would've been much funnier if it were a Polish airplane that crashed.
What?
How is that even related?
It would still be increadibly bad taste at jokes. Russia never joked about that plane or any other planes or catastrophes.
I do believe Charlie Hebdoo can laugh at anything and our govt. reaction is inappropriate, but I also do believe Charlie Hebdoo is shit at humour (and has to be laughed at for it) and I do believe it has nothing to do with democracy and free speech because in France you can laugh at some things (Russian people dying, ismalists), but will be jailed for laughing at other things (cartoons about jews got some people jailed).
Waiting an arbitrary time for something to be funny is dumb. We have 9/11 Jihad meme videos now and Holocaust jokes are also common. Personally I think humor is a great way to deal with grief. I thought Russians were supposed to be thick skinned. It's tasteless, whatever.

Dude we have a country-wide mourning and you expect us to laugh?
It's natural. It will be bad taste to laugh at the death of these people for our lifetime at least. 9/11 Jihad meme videos didn't appear for many years, same for Holocaust (and you still don't wanna joke about these things with people even slightly related).
I would love to watch Charlie Hebdoo make a holocaust joke, but we all know it won't.
I mean would you laugh if a passenger plane of your country crashed? I don't think so.
Je suis dumb unfunny cartoon
you're a dumb unfunny cartoon?
Dude we have a country-wide mourning and you expect us to laugh?
No, not really. I didn't laugh either.
I mean would you laugh if a passenger plane of your country crashed? I don't think so.
Remember when Russians took down a Malaysian Airlines passenger flight? Of course you do, that was last year. Well, if somebody posted a cartoon related to this that was funny I would laugh. The MH17 crash wasn't funny at all though.
Anyway, I know I probably took it too far making those statements. Sorry. My point was basically that people are really fussy about what's funny and what goes to far.
So would anyone have found it funny if a cartoon depicting 9/11 was released in 2002?

Yes, but you set the bar pretty low.
What?
How is that even related?

Zadornov though.
"It fell because it was heavier than air".
But then again that guy's entire shtick is to jerk the feeling of nationalism in people.
Does this mean I can celebrate terrorist attacks that happens in France now?

Seems to be Charlie Hebdo's shtick. People will defend them just because of the attack, and while I stand up for their right to say what they want to say, I still don't like what they publish. Most of it is trash that they pass off as "black humor" when really it's just them trying to be edgy.
The point is they should be allowed to do so without having to be afraid somebody comes over and shoots them for making funny pictures.
People need to understand that just because somebody is making fun of something you don't think is funny, it doesn't mean you need to do something about it
No one here is saying they should be shot for it. That doesn't mean we can't criticise them for making light of the deaths of over 200 people.

What are you talking about? Haha no one here has suggested any sort of violence towards them. Most of what they publish is mind numbingly dumb and unfunny.

I hardly ever agree with you Muffinzerg, but you hit it spot on in this case. Its tasteless. It isn't funny making jokes then publicizing it to the world so soon after a tragic case.
