Yes, you read the title correctly. This week's big poll topic is if the internet as we know it, the all-knowing, all powerful source of free data transfer. The thread title and the poll question is different for a reason. You try putting 20 years in the future in to a poll There are several bills being passed in countries that give the government power to make efforts to limit the internet for our safety. How far do you think it will go by 2030? (eg: france) http://www.google.ca/search?q=france+censors+the+internet&ie=utf-8&oe=utf-8&aq=t&rls=org.mozilla:en-US:official&client=firefox-a Here are some things to think about and discuss: Will we need E-Passports to go to international websites? Will there be internet licenses (much like drivers licenses) Will some form of internet currency come about? Will piracy become extinct on the internet? Vote in the poll, and give your opinion. Since none of us can actually see into the future, the poll does not give options about the level of security on the internet in 20 years. Just to clarify. You can make guesses by actually posting. Also, if your opinion doesn't really fit into the poll options, just don't vote.
How am I supposed to know? :ohdear:
What poll? There we go.
in some way probably
The Censorship Surrogate Poll Post. Rate with ratings Internet Censorship: ZING= I am strongly against internet censorship (or I think no content at all should be censorable) DISAGREE= I am against internet censorship (or I think some content should be censorable) AGREE=I am for internet censorship (or I think most content should be censorable) WINNER=I am strongly for internet censorship (or I think all content should be censorable)
That'd be hilarious going into a test for your "internet license" Question 1: If a man were to google 'free porn', would he be. A. Prosicuted. B. Sent to hell C. Redirected to a christian-friendly page or D. Sent to free porn.
C and D is the same.
Question 2: When you're about to get off a website and on to another, you must signal: A. True B. False C. Only when the website your going on to has exposed nudity.
Your poll options have nothing to do with the question. You asked whether we think it will be, not whether we like it.
I'd say, censorship is always a bad thing. It's a 2 way road. Censorship passes - pirating is forbidden and most non-illegal websites are now censored. I remember the Australian plan for censorship where you'd pay $50 for 5 websites to browse, I laughed hard. Lemme find the picture somewhere
Are you going through your rebellious stage? Why all the politically charged threads?
Your poll options have nothing to do with the question.
Because fitting people's complex opinion on 20 years into the future is biased. So thanks for pointing that out thar [editline]20th December 2010[/editline]
Are you going through your rebellious stage? Why all the politically charged threads?
Oh I'm sorry Politics are for 'angst' in this forum. I forgot. I don't need to justify my interest in politics to you. People seem interested here so I'm going to keep making them k? Claw out of my ass please.
Yes, unfortunately the internet will become censored in most likely less than 20 years. The way the World/US is heading, I'll give it another 14 years, maximum before censoring begins. Hell, it's already starting with the government shutting down the domains of torrentfreak/etc...
Question 3: If you are presented by a download, which do you select. A. Turn on indicators. B. Stop untill other traffic has passed. C. Keep a packet length away from other visitors.
Question 4: One day a friend sends you a link to a 'free' download that he promises isn't taxed or government regulated. You should: A. Press the police button on your keyboard right away. B. Proceed to download the malicious document and join the legions of the terrorists.
It could, but probably not. I mean, c'mon if we censored the internet at least more than 50% of its material would be wiped off, if we censored anything that's considered "offensive". Not to mention, if it weren't for the internet, a lot of shit wouldn't have happened.
It's all gonna be a conspiracy. The government will bring down everything and put up false information. :ninja:

Claw out of my ass please.
Well if it was just "Who has the strongest party" that would be cool but it's always "dudes, chlorine in the water will kill you all" or "the government is plotting to kill you all" or "socialism is cool" I mean geez

Question 5: If you are presented to a document which has opinions against any government do you; A. Read it and rebell B. Report to the FBI. C. Take no action, then serve 10 years in prison.
Child porn and piracy is only an excuse for governments to censor the Internet -- even if they effectively did manage to censor it, which is impossible considering the redundancy of the network, they are only hiding the problem, not solving it.
Well if it was just "Who has the strongest party" that would be cool but it's always "dudes, chlorine in the water will kill you all" or "the government is plotting to kill you all" or "socialism is cool" I mean geez
Oh I'm sorry I'm not going with the status quo on this one. And its flouride dude. I think you should stop critisizing other people's threads and just get the fuck out, though.
It will not stand if it happens. And that's a big-ass IF.
Question 6: You are in the military and you see some seriously corrupt actions taking place, perpetrated by individuals employed by the government. What do you do? A. Release the classified video of said perpetrators to the general public and reveal war crimes, and spend the rest of your life in solitary confinement. B. Pretend it didn't happen and do as has always been done.
It will not stand if it happens. And that's a big-ass IF.
20 years is a long time.

I think you should stop critisizing other people's threads and just get the fuck out, though.
If you make a thread you're asking for people to put in their opinions on the topic(s). My opinion is that you're a sensationalist conspiracy theorist kid who should stop making threads.
If you make a thread you're asking for people to put in their opinions on the topic(s). My opinion is that you're a sensationalist conspiracy theorist kid who should stop making threads.
The poll has nothing to do with me, and I encouraged people to speak on the actual subject. You're right lets just sweep this issue under the table. Its not important. I'm just a 'theorist' who likes talking about controversial subjects, oh no. You really do not have to be a kid to, as you call it, challenge authority on an internet forum by creating polls for others to voice their opinions? Get out with your assumptions, honestly.
Question 7: You are investigating a rape charge and have a search warrent for the persons house and find he has downloaded 3 tracks. Do you A. Shoot the civilian B. Arrest him. C. Beat, shoot, taze and molest the man for committing such evil.
Its no conspiracy that the internet is getting censored.
When did I call it "challenging authority"? Are you saying you're challenging authority by making a thread on an internet forum? [editline]20th December 2010[/editline]
Its no conspiracy that the internet is getting censored.
Uh not really Everything surrounding Wikileaks being taken down is because its hosters can't afford to keep being DDoSed by people who hate wikileaks (don't say it's the government or your credibility will be gone thanks) [editline]20th December 2010[/editline] I'm pretty sure he logged onto his alt Terminutter to rate himself zing lol he's offline at the time of this edit
