I love the work of Yann Tiersen. He's best known for composing the musical score for [I]La Fabuleux Destin d'Amelie Poulain[/I].

As you can hear, he's heavily influenced by French folk music, and he has been compared to Chopin for his minimalist yet elegant style of whimsical music.
