I really, really doubt an expert astronomer made the comparison to "100 million bombs". It's pointlessly crude for something like a... actually that's another problem with this. "Solar storm" isn't what affects earth, it's things like mass corneal ejections and the like. That the article doesn't mention what it is specifically is pretty questionable. That and the fact that it's from yahoo and not something more "reputable" Anyways, pointlessly crude for something that effects the earth's magnetosphere and atmosphere as a whole. EDIT: and it's quoting an astronomy lecturer and columnist. Really, this is just an embarrassingly bad article.
