This was nice to see considering SM64 was the first game I've ever played. Matthew always puts out good stuff.
and also if this is all matthew's gameplay then shit he's a Mario 64 pro
I wish there were more channels like matthew's.

Just ordered an Elgato an hour ago, I'm going to start critiquing games in sort of the same fashion at Mathew, first games gonna be smash 64.
I wish I could articulate why I like/hate things in games as well as this person. His MGS series is legendary.
I think what I like about his analysis on thing is his perspective. yesterday I saw a video on ShovelKnight and why it's amazing at teaching players, and one thing I noticed is that it seemed like the author had the conclusion and then showed an aspect of the game to say "see, this is how it is."
Instead Matt shows an aspect of the game and then explains what it does and how it fits into his argument. Seems like a small thing, but that aspect of them is something I enjoy in kind of a weird way. He breaks down all the different examples and aspects and explains how each one affects the players. In a bottom-up approach. I haven't played SM64 in such a long time but many of his point resonate with me as a kid.
Maybe I'm too big of a fan.

He definitely brings lots of things into a new light for me.
For example, the part where he's talking about how the sidejump was probably implemented at a later point to increase the skill ceiling for players wanting to keep their momentum. That's something I'd never even consider when thinking about the actual mechanics of the game.
