The first few hours after polls started closing it was looking good for Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney, but not that good.
Romney’s eager-beaver team accidentally posted an updated victory site complete with a smiling headshot of “President-Elect Romney.” Oops.
The new site quickly was taken down but not before Political Wire’s Taegan Goddard snapped a few screenshots for posterity. Now a photo of Romney waving amid a crowd of followers is on the homepage. Evidence of his loss is nowhere to be found on the site.
I wonder just how the guy who took the screenshots, managed to figure out the website name if it were up so briefly.. Still, it's pretty hilarious.

wishful thinking. Mitt Romney probably put the website up for a few minutes so he could leave his wife and kid's crying behind and bask in the false limelight of his dead political career.
A terrifying insight into a fate we narrowly avoided
Yeah, when all the former confederate states close their polls early, you might have an early lead.

Did he release his concession speech by any chance?
I remember how he only wrote up a victory one.

this feels all sorts of creepy
like a crazy ex girlfriend from years ago who sends you a wedding invite only to find out you're the groom
It's just the vestiges of a hellish alternate universe seeping into ours, possibly as a reminder issued by space-time its self as to the fate this world had managed to avoid.
Its kinda sad.
not surprising, his campaign team really was terrible
I actually love seeing stuff like this, it's like a glimpse into an alternate reality.
A rare image of the phenomenon known as "dodging a bullet".

And then imagine if it's actually OUR universe that's the hellish one, and back in the other one Romney's speech started with "Gotcha!", then went on to describe an amazing plan that would fix everything, cure cancer, and release Half-Life 3. :v:

I'm sure that's what many Republicans thought would happen.

it couldve happened if you had ONLY LISTENED!
This made me kind of sad. I feel sorry for the big lug. I mean I'm glad the U.S. isn't insane enough to vote him in to office, but he seems insane enough to have actually believed he was going to win.

Yeah, its such a shame that Mitt Romney nothing but millions and millions of dollars to go to.

In some ironic sense Mitt Romney probably helped the economy by foolishly throwing tonnes of his personal wealth into his campaign, which now finds itself back in circulation

I get what you're saying, but still. This isn't a guy who poured his entire life into politics and doesn't know what else to do. Those are the people I feel sorry for. This guy knows how to found multi-billion dollar companies; he'll find something else to do with his time.

from what reports are out right now, his aides have described him as "shellshocked". The fact he didn't even prepare a speech in the case he was defeated, that this site was all set to go, it just shows how purely confident they were. The way they acted, it seems they truly believed it was manifest destiny he have his turn now.
or maybe he knows how much trouble he's in since he has to answer to his donors now

Yea because it would have been THAT bad had Romney been elected.
Don't get me wrong, I personally dislike both candidates, but come on. No matter who got elected, your life really wouldn't have changed much either way.
Everyone needs to stop being so melodramatic about this stuff, hell I doubt most of you are even old enough to vote. (There's a reason for that.)
What's with the talk of alles die alternative realität?
Oh, oh mein Gott was ich getan?
