There is no excuse for someone who is 16 to mistake something like that. Child's = Child's possession (pardon the redundancy), I.E.: The child's backpack (the backpack belongs to the child/is possessed by the child). Childs = not even a word. It's a failed attempt at a plural. Instead, you should say "children".
