Luxury car owners may seem like an unlikely target for organizing a political resistance movement, but to Doug Derwin, it’s all about the make: Tesla. Derwin is investing up to $2m in an effort to persuade Tesla’s CEO, Elon Musk, to speak out against Donald Trump’s climate change policy and resign from his positions in groups advising Trump on business and manufacturing jobs. On Monday, Derwin launched the website ElonDumpTrump.com laying out his argument that Musk’s role in the administration is inconsistent with his role as a leader on climate change. Full page ads will run in the New York Times, Washington Post, San Francisco Chronicle and San Jose Mercury News on Sunday. Television ads will air during Morning Joe, Meet the Press and Full Frontal with Samantha Bee. Over the past month, Derwin has deployed mobile billboards around the offices of Musk’s various companies with messages including “Elon: The Trump Won’t Wash Off” and “SpaceX: Is Mars Worth Global Warming Here?”
https://www.theguardian.com/environment/2017/apr/19/elon-dump-trump-climate-change-doug-derwin Rather baffling to how the leading man on environmentalism that Trump actually likes leaving his side will help the cause.
Yeah doesn't it make more sense for Elon to try to enact change from within by advising Trump?

It's not a bad argument to be made, but it's really dependent on if anything comes of it. So far there hasn't been much.
Yeah no, Elon is in a position to be able to influence Trump, even if just a bit, in not fucking up so much, keep him there.
Musk working with Trump is like a deal with the devil. Trump is honestly his best shot at getting through all the corporate lobbyists trying to stop Tesla, but it requires having to work with Trump.
It'd be ironic of Elon left and was replaced with one of the most extremist anti-environmentalists known to man Derwin is a giant idiot lmao he doesn't get the fucking POINT
What a pretentious badgewhore loser.
Doug Derwin took himself off the waitlist for a Tesla when he learned of Musk’s ties to Trump.
Get a bus pass then, you stupid cunt.
What a pretentious badgewhore loser. Get a bus pass then, you stupid cunt.
He really deserves the Derwin award AKA an award for "Most ironic and anti-productive idiot of this year"
doug is a dumbass
He should spend that money on the environment rather than trying to stifle Elon advisory position.
He should spend that money on the environment rather than trying to stifle Elon advisory position.

He is also asking owners of Tesla vehicles to sign a petition and send personal messages to Musk. Those on the waitlist for Tesla’s coveted vehicles are encouraged to withdraw – an action Derwin took when he learned of Musk’s ties to Trump. (Derwin said that he lost his deposit and donated the $150,000 cost of the car to the American Civil Liberties Union
It appears that keeping civil liberties is higher on his priority list.
for 2 millions he could fund way more important things research or scholarship for talented students (e.g. those who will actually change world in future) or pay for some cleanup of some environment (e.g. in cheaper part of world where those 2 millions USD have N times weight)
This is a prime example of 'more money than brains'. What a complete imbecile.
Do the trucks carting around his billboards help the environment? Seems like he's the one doing everything wrong.
