christ... how the fuck does this happen in this day and age. after all the safeguarding in place shit like this was never supposed to happen.
Super fucked up that nobody noticed that he had been dead for that long.. No family or anything.

Its normally the kids finding them when they dont pick up the phone for an extended period of time... or when the dogs start barking when they're not fed
Super fucked up that nobody noticed that he had been dead for that long.. No family or anything.
Some people go years dead without being discovered. Pretty sad that no one notices they're gone
Mr Yuill stopped paying the rent on his Blackbird Leys flat in November, and housing officers visited his flat in Sorrel Road in January but saw "no concerns for his welfare".
So they popped in and concluded that "nah he looks fine"? :v:
I am surprised that legal proceedings don't start on unpaid rent before 6 months or that after a few months that some alarm was not raised. It's very sad to be dead for this length of time when nobody in this time seems to care.

This sort of thing happens all the time afaik, especially with old people living alone.
Where the hell was the body that they couldn't find it?

The landlord simply gets a direct deposit every month. As long as the landlord gets payed, he has no reason to investigate beyond the annual inspections, which a lot of shady places don't even bother to do.
This sort of thing happens all the time afaik, especially with old people living alone.
Even if they aren't subsidized, a lot of people have auto withdraw setup. Their income from whatever pensions/retirement funds go into the account, and get pulled out. The bank might notice that they aren't making random withdrawls for food or other stuff, but they probably won't, and even if they do, they probably won't care.

Seven months? The body must have been half skeleton by that time.
Seven months? The body must have been half skeleton by that time.
I wonder how hard it'll be to get the smell out of the unit. Moral of the story.. don't rent to old people. Oh, and try to hold on to your friends.
I wonder how hard it'll be to get the smell out of the unit.
It's actually not uncommon for things to be dry enough for the bodies to just mummify. Not much scent in that case. The nasty ones are where people die where it's humid, or have pets that wind up eating them before starving to death. :vomit:

don't rent to old people. Oh, and try to hold on to your friends.
I'm pretty sure the moral of the story is check on old people. If I owned a property, I'd like to think I'd know who was renting it well enough to know that they weren't dead. Anyone can slip and fall and smash their brains in or whatever, but with old people it's a real concern that nobody would notice that they did so.
at least this isn't as bad as this story: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Joyce_Vincent
at least this isn't as bad as this story: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Joyce_Vincent
wow, this woman obviously had some kind of mental illness that went undetected by all of her friends and family, tragic story.
