Call of Duty Black Ops - Shangri-La "Free the Explorer's" Easter Egg
24 replies, posted
The same with Ascension & Call of the Dead. Treyarch has built a massive easter egg for the Call of Duty Zombies community to unfurl the story of Element 115 and its presence on earth. Shangri-La's easter egg focuses on freeing two explorers. Lots of steps. Lots and lots of steps.
I honestly think Treyarch should make a standalone Zombie game. Based on the original story.
But anywho here is gameplay of the easter egg being unfurled and freeing the Explorer and his apprentice Gary.

a little bit though
These are the most bullshit "Easter eggs" I've ever seen.
Like that Ascenion one? Who the fuck goes around and thinks up all that stuff
"Hey, wanna play Black Ops?"
"Sure, but just for fun let's try shooting 4 different guns into a bomb after we've done a whole lot of pre-requisites!
20 minutes to explain an "easter egg"? My ass. These things are always such bullshit.

I think easter eggs that require work are better to be honest.
the reward is pretty shitty
They're fun to do with friends, and I'm sure the developers enjoy making them.
Awesome! I always likes Treyarch, they used to make amazing action/arcade games back in the day. While most would consider it 'sad' that they end up working on another studios series for the rest of their time, I'm glad I get to play these amazingly well done zombie maps. They really are creative.
TBH the only reason the CoD series started sucking is because Activision saw how much they could milk it, thus reducing development time and increasing price ($15 map-packs, really?) of the series.
The reward was kinda anti-climatic.

It's not really an easter-egg, they just call it one. It's more of a challenge to people and Treyarch getting back to their puzzle/platformer roots.

We only partially hate the devs, however Activision can go fuck themselves.
Man that reward is not worth all that work at all.
That was really cool though.
If these packs weren't so god dam expensive I would buy them just for the zombies.
The nuketown easter egg was much worse.
It was such a hype around what would happen if all the dolls were decapicated withing a certain time.
Then they did it and it just played a song that was already in the campaign.

One easter egg also is you go in the yellow house, go on top of the bunk bed and you turn blue. :v:
It seems like these easter eggs had more work in them then some of the missions the campaign had.
Which makes it part awesome part sad.

Hondo's easter eggs are bloody insane... It took a crack team™ of 12-14 facepunchers spamming use and rubbing up against walls for 3 hours just to get through one of his maps.
Turns out we missed a small crack in a vent which could be shot open to open an entire other map. It took so long to find because the vent was short and nobody thought to use their flashlight when going through it.

That's the fucking point.

Activision: What's taking so long !?
Treyarch: We're just finishing it up
Activision: Fuck that shit lol
*activision releases map pack*
Glowing orbs are making the Treyarch logo mmm?
Also Treyarch should be independent as OP said.
It should unlock a hidden large area of the map or something like that.
This seems so useless since you it takes 20 minutes and 1 guy gets the reward
it also (i think/so far) has NO relevance to the actually nazi zombie story-line, they could of at least cleared up the whole story, oh no , wait that's in the 4th next map pack
If they made a game that was just Zombies Co-op I would buy it. That's the only good thing in CoD anyways.
Just make a straight up zombie game, people would eat that shit up and your asshole-god bobby kotik will be pleased.
