• Best Buy is cancelling Majora's Mask Edition New 3DS preorders due to an error in perceived inventor
According to multiple tipsters and just about everybody on Twitter, Best Buy has started canceling pre-orders for the elusive Majora's Mask-themed New 3DS XL, offering $50 in BestBuy.com credit as a make-good. There have even been reports of customers not getting the $50 coupon, according to former Destructoid CEO Hamza Aziz. In an email sent out to customers, the electronics retailer claimed the number of pre-orders "exceeded the quantities made available to Best Buy." Should you have paid for the system in full with a debit or credit card, you will be refunded for the full amount. The email also claims that Best Buy will be "unable to fulfill all of the pre-orders received," implying that some pre-orders will be upheld.
[source] Mine got cancelled :( I got in and preordered five minutes after it opened, but apparently it wasn't soon enough. Didn't even think to order from another place in the last nine days because I thought I was good to go
nintendo release numbers lately have been fucked :\
nintendo release numbers lately have been fucked :\
At least with Nintendo you won't be able to go out and buy a special edition or collector's edition for 1/3rd of the original price in 6 months. But yeah, they'd make more money if they produced more of their homerun items that have released recently.
at least you get a $50 dollar coupon, that's pretty good
Indeed. Decided to go for a black new 3ds with the $50 off coupon. I didn't really like the MM3DS anyways. Colors should've been inverted or it should have been purple.
Nice of them to extend that $50 offer, but this still sucks. What on earth is Nintendo doing with their production lately? How could they think that demand would be that low? This same bullshit is happening with amiibo. Pre-orders of the next wave keep getting mass-canceled because stores find out that they won't get nearly as much stock as they expected. And then the problem is compounded even further by some desirable amiibo being store-exclusive in the US. Whose bright idea was that? And then there's the regular N3DS model outright not being available at all in the US. Something tells me Nintendo has a major production problem and they aren't telling us about it.
It's the same way with the Monster Hunter 4 3DS. Out of stock almost the instant it went up. Nintendo really does need to step up their production game to match market expectations instead of only producing enough product to sell at a profit.
at least you get a $50 dollar coupon, that's pretty good
you should get you're money back.
you should get you're money back.
If your pre-order's been cancelled, I assume you'd get your money back.
you should get you're money back.
You do, it even says so.
This is giving me GameCube adapter vibes all over again
I feel bad for any people that are stuck in this mess. I don't get why limited stuff such as this doesn't get limits right off the bat. It's limited, therefore it's bound to be rare. Rarity can create profit if a sick mind grab a hold of many of them and demand will give him said profit. Or anyone who's logic goes with "I hate this, let me buy 100 units of it." just to fuck with some else fun and enjoyment.
I think that was handled very professionally given the circumstances. They could have held onto the money longer as a 'backorder' rather than immediately notifying and giving that coupon.
Someone came into Best Buy today and yelled at me because we can't pre order that 3DS. Then promptly left with "I'm going to shop at Staples from now on!"
Wait, why's everyone losing their shit trying to get a rehash? Isn't this what you hate cawadoody fans for?
Wait, why's everyone losing their shit trying to get a rehash? Isn't this what you hate cawadoody fans for?
i'd be losing my shit too if nintendo products that i have purchased are absurdly low on stock and i can't get what i pay for also a remake of a decade old game is different from releasing a rushed game every year also im not anti-cod also facepunch is not a hivemend
At least with Nintendo you won't be able to go out and buy a special edition or collector's edition for 1/3rd of the original price in 6 months.
Honestly I'd prefer that to racing to snatch one before the people wanting to sell it on eBay for a lot more. That said, I don't want them to be as common as the regular models.
Wait, why's everyone losing their shit trying to get a rehash? Isn't this what you hate cawadoody fans for?
Considering the quality of the N64 to 3DS remakes (holy fuck Star Fox 3DS is <3), it's quite a huge difference compared to CoD rehashes. Though I still don't see the appeal of OoT or MM, both are incredibly boring. I got as far as meeting Zelda in OoT before falling asleep from sheer boredom.
its ni no kuni all over again
Wait, why's everyone losing their shit trying to get a rehash? Isn't this what you hate cawadoody fans for?
The system doesn't even include the game :v:
