• France house fire kills five children
Five young children have died after a fire at a home in northern France, according to local authorities. The father of the children jumped from the first floor of the building in the town of Saint Quentin, about 90 miles north of Paris, and raised the alarm, French media reports said. The man reportedly sustained light burns – contacted a neighbour who alerted authorities. By the time emergency services arrived, the home was not safe to enter and the five children's bodies were found after the blaze had been put out.
http://m.guardian.co.uk/world/2013/mar/31/france-fire-kills-five-children This is horrible
I wonder if it will turn out like the Derby fire
Damn, my house burnt down last year but we were mostly fine. Can't imagine what the guy is going through.
My house burnt down a few weeks ago, it's the scariest shit I've ever been through. I'm glad I didn't lose anyone, I cannot imagine how it would feel...
Now, there'll be no more Picards... Must have been one of those 'one way in, one way out' designs - they're so common over there I've found (I'm in real estate, so naturally I take note of certain things design wise with buildings when I'm browsing the internet, it just stood out to me how they designed their old homes). Hate to think how awful it would be trapped in some room as it goes up in flames around you. They were probably hoping right until the last moment that someone would bust in and save them. Fuck that.
Gotta be one of the worst ways to die.
I wonder if it will turn out like the Derby fire
They should have gotten some terrible acting award for their performance in front of the cameras.
I'm suspecting something more than this story is saying. The guy escaped by 'jumping from the first floor'? So he walked out or stepped out of a window?

If this had happened here in the US I'd suspect the dad of setting the fire in order to punish his ex-wife. But since this is in France and I have no idea of how bad domestic disputes can get over there, I can't say this guy is a suspect.

Are you implying only evil psychotic douchebags reside in the US?
No, I"m merely saying that while I'm familiar with how many men kill their kids to get back at their ex-wives here in the US, I have no informatioin on whether this sort of thing is common in France.
doesn't matter much to me as long as they're dead
