I know you guys aren't a big fan of 80's stuff, as far as I can tell, but I'm proud that I've been able to actually finish something for the first time in almost a year. Copied from my Soundcloud description: A remix I did for a friend, check out his stuff here! http://albums.sgxmusic.com/track/and-all-that-between-album-version I've been a huge fan of amazing artists lately like Lifelike, Oliver, Edwin Van Cleef, Electric Youth, Bestrack, Fear of Tigers, and Tesla Boy. So, I decided to try my hand at the funky and amazing old-school feel, when I usually just do cinematic and modern stuff for video games.Comments and criticism would be LOVED. Wow this really does sound 80's. Awesome work capturing that feeling. The drums are a bit shit tbh, I don't really know. The kick is a too clicky. The snare is too clicky and short. But I guess it nicely contributes to the 80's feeling. I don't have too any other crits really. The drums get kinda boring in the break I guess. Get someone to sing about winning fights and finding love and shit over this and you're set.
Hey thanks man! I tried my best at emulating the 80's sound with the drums, with a nice helping of plate reverb on the snare. That should be about right for how they usually sound. If this was a slower track, then I would have upped the reverb some more, but it's fast enough that I wouldn't want to make someone's ears fatigue from the constant reverberated snares. At least from what I've heard from some of my artists is that the kick is almost uncomfortably dry and compressed beyond all reason, so I went with the flow on that one. And yes! Good idea on a singer! I could turn it into a Survivor track or something haha.
