Believed to be Android 5.0 Key Lime Pie, was expected to be the operating system sat on top of whatever new hardware is announced during the developer focused event. Now though, it is beginning to look more and more likely that we will be decidedly Key Lime Pie-less, at least for the near future, after it was noticed that users of a version of Android 4.3 have been cropping up on various server logs across the internet.
http://www.redmondpie.com/android-4.3-being-worked-on-by-google-and-its-not-key-lime-pie/ Aww, apparently it will be a redesign of Jelly Bean so that's still that. Hopefully better battery management. My nexus 4 is ready.
I'd like to see some kind of real multitasking on Android in the future.
I'd love to see some sort of Window Manager/ External screen functionality like Ubuntu mobile personally.
It was recently rumored that Google had decided to hold off launching Android 5.0 due to pressure from hardware partners who have not been able to update their phones to Jelly Bean and don’t want their handsets to be a full point-0 version out of date.
Pussies, the whole lot of 'em. They could've just stuck with putting more "vanilla" version of Android on devices, instead of insisting on raping it every-time with useless bloat and horrible UI designs. Sometimes it feels like they hired some random XDA-dev member to handle it. /rant
As in? Google should honestly implement a intelligent swap-cache system, designed specifically for preserving flash memory, while also offloading background applications using shitloads of ram into the swap cache.

No Android OEM has the weight that Apple does to say "You won't touch the phone, the updates, anything." Samsung seems like it would be but judging by the SIV's locked bootloader it seems like they don't have control over carriers. That's probably the biggest hurdle, carrier "testing".
Carriers are mostly a problem in the US & Canada, it's minimal in Europe. Consumer rights ahoy :haw:
Europe still gets the drawn out "testing" periods. Maybe not as much in the way of bloatware which is awesome since having all that crap added for each carrier takes time too, but it's definitely not a hands off situation for carriers with Android anywhere. I put testing in quotation marks because it's never been clear what exactly needs to be tested to warrant a six month delay on an update.

[editline]27th April 2013[/editline] which is why I love apex launcher, all it is is AOSP+features they REALLY should have added The stock Android design is great, I don't even understand why the feel they need to slap horrendous UIs over it.
[editline]27th April 2013[/editline] where is my post WTF
I have a Galaxy S3 and verizion doesn't do a good job at updating their phones. Cyanogen is pretty good for new versions of android
I'd like to see some kind of real multitasking on Android in the future.
S3 + Note have multiwindow but on smaller screen phones it's not really very useful. Theres not enough screenspace to make it worth while.
S3 + Note have multiwindow but on smaller screen phones it's not really very useful. Theres not enough screenspace to make it worth while.
I can see multiwindow mode being useful on 7" tablets and up. But on phablets and phones it seems retarded and counter productive.
I'm not surprised at all. Gingerbread to Ice Cream Sandwich was a MASSIVE change. If the same happened with 4.0 to 5.0, it would be a massive deal. [editline]27th April 2013[/editline] However, Cards UI does open new possibilities for new UIs, so I guess there's something coming.
Glad I got Nexus devices. I have the Nexus 4 and Nexus 7. Yay for not having to wait for dumb as shit OEMs to take a year to push out an update.
Anybody want External screen functionality in smartphone. vanilla" version of Android on device, in its place of insisting on raping it whenever with useless bloat and horrifying UI designs.
