A video released late on Saturday appears to show the execution of Japanese reporter Kenji Goto by a fighter of the extremist group calling itself the Islamic State.
The video, titled "A Message To The Government Of Japan," appears to show a black-clad militant with a British accent beheading Goto.
The Associated Press reports that the video was released on militant websites. It resembles previous videos released by the group which showed the execution of American journalists James Foley and Steven Sotloff, and Brits Alan Henning and David Haines.
RIP Kenji Goto
You've got to have some balls if you're a free lance journalist and go decide to go the middle east.
i dont think its worth going to the middle east as a foreign journalist, especially with these savages deliberately looking for people like that.
i could have sworn i've read some articles about journalists being kidnapped and thrown into the arms of these guys from syria to turkey.

this guy went straight to the isis headquarters, he has the biggest balls of all
Soto crossed the Turkish border into Syria. His destination was ISIS headquarters in Raraa. His friend, Alaaeddin Al Zaim told Goto not to go to find ISIS. But Goto felt he was safe because Japan wasn’t at war in Syria.
But ISIS is at war with everything that isn't ISIS.
But ISIS is at war with everything that isn't ISIS.
Hindsight is 20/20 in this guys case, unfortunately
Not much good will come of any of this, but at least now independent reporters know that ISIS basically has no qualms about killing pretty much anybody regardless of background
You've got to have some balls if you're a free lance journalist and go decide to go the middle east.
Because all of the middle east is like Syria and Iraq, right?
But ISIS is at war with everything that isn't ISIS.
Well we know ISIS ain't going to win any wars.
feels like they're gonna mess with some dudes soon that shouldn't be messed with and it backfires..
hopefully

They unearth some ancient ruins, rig them with explosives because they deem them blasphemous, and then unleash some timeless entity that sweeps through as a semi-corporeal fog flaying all of them.
Last time japan was at war it took two nukes to stop them. Isis is making themselves a scary enemy.

lol
Because all of the middle east is like Syria and Iraq, right?
no, but an unusually large portion of the middle east is completely fucked.
Last time japan was at war it took two nukes to stop them. Isis is making themselves a scary enemy.
obviously the situations are directly comparable
edit: that was sarcasm
Is this still Jihadi John doing the beheadings? Man, if the SAS find that guy he is really not going to be in a happy place.

how long before they go full boko-huran and just go through towns mowing down everyone?
how long before they go full boko-huran and just go through towns mowing down everyone?
Aren't they already doing this? At least to towns that resist.
So it seems to be the same militant that's been handling all of these executions recently.
I wonder how many people are hunting for that one man alone right now.
I bet there's some modern Lt. Aldo Raine wannabes out there looking for this dirtbag.
So it seems to be the same militant that's been handling all of these executions recently.

Doesn't really matter, they literally have a whole army to do executions if this particular one is caught or killed.
Last time japan was at war it took two nukes to stop them. Isis is making themselves a scary enemy.
Totally irrelevant.
If jihadi john is caught he better like staying at hotel Guantanamo :v:
But seriously, daesh are a bunch of sick fucks.
Last time japan was at war it took two nukes to stop them. Isis is making themselves a scary enemy.
Japan doesn't ever have any armed forces besides their self defense force, and they're not gonna be dropping troops into Iraq to defend themselves against ISIS.
Now to see if Shinzo Abe will change article 9 due to this.

BH (Boko Haram*) uses ISIS inspired tactics anyways.

It's a little odd too cause ISIS let a German journalist come and hang out with them and gave him a tour and everything. But Germany is "at war" with ISIS.

Pretty primal tactics I don't think ISIS gets to coin African brutality.
Last time japan was at war it took two nukes to stop them. Isis is making themselves a scary enemy.
Today's Japan is nothing like yesterday's.
Really though. What's ISIS gonna do to Japan? Are they gonna somehow cross the ocean and invade or some shit? The whole "were gonna kill anyone we find thats Japanese" is kinda pointless, since they're killing any foreigner they find anyway.
Last time japan was at war it took two nukes to stop them. Isis is making themselves a scary enemy.
1. Imperial Japan was a military superpower, today's isn't
2. The Japanese gov. ain't gonna do shit about this
Bet those Japaneses will have fun attacking this with memes again

Taking territory, like ISIS, then claiming they are following ISIS' example, then pledging allegiance to ISIS, then ISIS giving their blessing sounds pretty damning to me. Abubakar Shekau himself said they were following after ISIS. There is a connection between ISIS and BH. BH has pretty much dropped Al-Qaeda (AQIM, specifically) as a partner group.
