The Lisbon Treaty also makes the president of the European Union be a more permanent position, since instead of just being 6 months at a time on rotation, it will now be voted by the Council of Europe who would be president for a 2.5 year term. But am I then only one who are happy with that? That we are finally on the road toward a federation of states?
Nope, not going to happen. There's also the North American Union, which didn't happen either.
Why not, but I'd hate to see it. Really, EU laws are above the constitution of any member state...
There was Africa, some people from Africa gone to Europe, then some people from Europe gone to America, killed the true Americans, and bitch about Europe is fags.
please god no dont put me with them
Nope, not going to happen. There's also the North American Union, which didn't happen either.
NAFTA still exists. Some leading parlimentary figures in Europe are going together to write about a possible economical and military alliance between the EU and the North American countries. Wonder what they would call that? Oceania?
Then there could be a 'United States of Asia' and a 'United States of Africa' and so on and so forth. 'The United States of Earth'...
Then there could be a 'United States of Asia' and a 'United States of Africa' and so on and so forth. 'The United States of Earth'...
United Unitedinations of Earth
They should do it.
Then there could be a 'United States of Asia' and a 'United States of Africa' and so on and so forth. 'The United States of Earth'...
When we reach that point, we're ready for space colonisation.

Edit : Ninja'd by the little dino :(
When we reach that point, we're ready for space colonisation.
exactly, that's also why i think a US of E is a stop toward it. And with the possible discovery of travelling the speed of light at CERN, then we are definately going toward it :D

If you think about it, this is what the Nazis wanted, a Unified Europe but instead it's been done with diplomacy but the same idea, except for ethnic cleansing.

And even though the vast majority of European FP'ers are Euro sceptic (plus all the "others" that wouldn't like Europe to become a superpower) I have hardly met anyone in real life that would be against it.

And hey, you are going to want to be in it anyways, fell a little left out when it comes to financial issues and such if a federation is established and the UK isen't it. And I am a right-winger (lower taxes, less government type) doesn't change my mind that I think this is a needed step. And hey, this would be democratic, compared to fuhrer-ran Nazi Germany.
No i'm not going to want to be in it, the UK has probably one of the best systems in the EU even though the economy is in shit, and if the EU became a superstate then we'd be on par with those countries that are siginificantly worse than us.

I think at this point, expansion of the European Union to the point of turning into one big country is inevitable, and I welcome it.
I'm in the UK so I'm cool :c00l:
No it wouldn't be better off, that's what they're wanting you to think, I just don't agree with 1 person leading a vast area such as Europe. [editline]02:08PM[/editline]
I'm in the UK so I'm cool :c00l:
We're in the EU and Gordon Brown signed the Lisbon Treaty, so it does affect you.

Giner go learn some politics and history, and then you can come back to this thread.
No it wouldn't be better off, that's what they're wanting you to think, I just don't agree with 1 person leading a vast area such as Europe.
That would be the "Empire of Europe" then, with an Emperor, but we are talking about a United States of Europe, not the European Empire.

There would be a President, but as with the american one, he wouldn't just be able to "lead". The people would have to vote him and then the congress would have to vote yes to his proposals and laws.
Giner go learn some politics and history, and then you can come back to this thread.
Or I can give my opinion, like everyone else, I don't agree with the EU and would prefer if we weren't in it. It's just one more step towards a One World Government.
Oh wow, my intergration class teacher talked about this last week, he talked about the lisbon treaty and how it could create the USE, he says it's a good thing because it will help our country get out of the shit it's been in the last decades.
Or I can give my opinion, like everyone else, I don't agree with the EU and would prefer if we weren't in it. It's just one more step towards a One World Government.
Why would a One World Government necessary be bad? Because conspiracy theories tell you?

This is what i'm talking about, the lesser countries benefit more whilst the bigger countries lose out more than gain.
Too many languages.
Why would a One World Government necessary be bad? Because conspiracy theories tell you?
It's not in our Human Nature to be unified under one banner, individuality is what makes us human and there would be infighting and rebellion, it just wouldn't work.
