Former UFC and "Ultimate Fighter" competitor Kevin "Kimbo Slice" Ferguson died on Monday after complications from heart failure. TMZ first reported the news that Ferguson -- best known by his in-ring persona as Kimbo Slice -- had been taken to the hospital near his home in Coral Springs, Fla. in critical condition. Ferguson's promoters at Bellator Fighting Championships confirmed his death on Monday. "We are all shocked and saddened by the devastating and untimely loss of Kimbo Slice, a beloved member of the Bellator family. One of the most popular MMA fighters ever, Kimbo was a charismatic, larger-than-life personality that transcended the sport," Bellator president Scott Coker said in a statement. "Outside of the cage he was a friendly, gentle giant and a devoted family man. His loss leaves us all with extremely heavy hearts, and our thoughts and prayers are with the entire Ferguson family and all of Kimbo's friends, fans, and teammates. According to multiple sources, Ferguson died at the hospital despite doctors working to revive the 42-year old fighter after he arrived. I'm reading that he passed away. No official word of it, though. [t]http://i.imgur.com/ciOLjXn.jpg[/t] [editline]6th June 2016[/editline] Passed away due to heart failure. *
A heart condition always takes those big motherfuckers down.
A heart condition always takes those big motherfuckers down.
He's not even that big. 6'2 and 234 lb.
A heart condition always takes those big motherfuckers down.
If he used steroids, and apparently he tested positive for them in the past, that explains a lot. Steroids will fuck your heart up faster than anything. And your brain too.
He's not even that big. 6'2 and 234 lb.
If he was on steroids that's probably the cause for heart failure, trenbolone is infamous for it's effects on the heart.
A heart condition always takes those big motherfuckers down.
That's because HGH (which many of them use) makes EVERYTHING bigger- Not only your muscles, but also all of your organs. If you do cardio while on HGH then your heart can get swole and then you die.
ESPN SportsCenter has just broken the official news.
I remember being like 13 watching his street fight videos with my cousin in his garage. rip
I remember being like 13 watching his street fight videos with my cousin in his garage. rip
saaaaammmee. rip Kimbo.
Edited the title. Rest in peace.
A heart condition always takes those big motherfuckers down.
I think it's pretty clear all the drugs he did was the main factor. He was in bad shape when he was fighting, much less now.
Does anyone else think it's a bit scary how he died only a few days from ali?
That sucks. Rest in peace kimbo. I haven't seen much of him when I was young but only found out about him about a year ago and loved watching him fight.
Does anyone else think it's a bit scary how he died only a few days from ali?
no
Does anyone else think it's a bit scary how he died only a few days from ali?
Why would that be scary? You do realize people die everyday, right?
No fucking way, I was at his last fight
He's not even that big. 6'2 and 234 lb.
thats pretty heavy for a fighter
Does anyone else think it's a bit scary how he died only a few days from ali?
someone has a death note and is eliminating the worlds strongest fighters to come out on top
someone has a death note and is eliminating the worlds strongest fighters to come out on top
Aw fuck is Cell absorbing Earth's fighters again?
Why would that be scary? You do realize people die everyday, right?
What I meant by that was 2 well known boxers dying real close to eachother.
That is very far stretched...
What I meant by that was 2 well known boxers dying real close to eachother.
Over 150,000 people die daily. So not really a big coincidence that 2 men in a contact sport in approx 450,000 people have died.
thats pretty heavy for a fighter
Not really at all. He's still 30 pounds from his division's weight limit.
I remember being like 13 watching his street fight videos with my cousin in his garage. rip
We used to spend our lunch breaks in high school watching them on the design + tech computers on google video
Sucks ass he died so young. Pretty uncanny to know he lived in my city; my old friend even got a picture with him recently at the youfit he works at. Anyone who'd met him always said he was a really nice guy to talk to/ be around. RIP
If he used steroids, and apparently he tested positive for them in the past, that explains a lot. Steroids will fuck your heart up faster than anything. And your brain too.
http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC1768197/ Kinda debatable.
http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC1768197/ Kinda debatable.
It's not. The study you cited even discusses the effects they have on impairment of the heart's left ventricle function, which is what pumps anywhere between 55-70% of the blood that fills the heart (in healthy individuals). They don't alter the physical structure of it, but they lower the pumping capacity by reducing its ability to relax and, you know, fill with blood. They also affect the liver and testicles directly, which is well known and should be common sense by this point in time (especially where the testicles are concerned; they cause scarring and shrinkage). There was a study done in Australia just a couple of years ago that examined this and concluded the same as well. Sydney Morning Herald ran a piece on it. People in their 20s and 30s had the cardiovascular health that would be normally expected in individuals twice their age.
Unfortunately it doesn't say if the study was based on inject-able or oral AAS, oral steroids are much harder on your heart/liver, so I'm assuming thats what they went with.
