What the flying fuck?
Might as well have ported it to GoldSrc
I'm curious to see the performance of the game once it comes out if it was downgraded for that reason.
Detroit Become Play-Doh.
That's the risk you run showing a game off two years before you release it.
Who could have possibly seen something like this coming!? /s
Might as well have ported it to GoldSrc
You're joking, but I could easily see these level of graphics working in source Detroit: Hunt Down the Human?
Probably keeping some high-res assets for a future full-price remaster
Great, so now the super uncomfortable and completely unnecessary rape scene won't be in HD.
You're joking, but I could easily see these level of graphics working in source Detroit: Hunt Down the Human?
Entire city blocks made out of a single entity. I can already see the 2TB install.
From the title I was expecting to be blown away by the graphical progress that's been made since 2015. I'm disappointed. The 2018 version looks comparable to some 10 year old games. That's Crysis from 2007: [t]https://i.imgur.com/OVDZnGX.jpg[/t] compared to [t]https://i.imgur.com/Ol6j2PZ.png[/t] Edit: Replaced the Crysis 2 picture by a real Crysis 1 picture. Oops.

Your point is still pretty intact, though.

it looks like they put a guassian blur on every texture :ohno:
On the plus side, the androids now have fake looking skin - so fits with the story?
David "No one has ever made a story where the AI is the hero" Cage.
On the plus side, the androids now have fake looking skin - so fits with the story?
Can't wait for them to actually use this excuse.
On the plus side, the androids now have fake looking skin - so fits with the story?
It's a brilliant scapegoat. Cage now has an excuse for his badly written characters and their inhuman dialogue.

I'm not sure if that's an entirely fair comparison. The 2018 comparison frames look like they are from a significantly lower quality video - it looks it has been recompressed a couple of times. This is the author's source. It has clearly been downgraded, and quite significantly in some areas. But this video clearly isn't aimed at being an objective comparison.
2016 is a tech demo while 2018 is a game. That's the simple answer.

I thought that's from the intro sequence of Crysis 1 right before you jump out of the plane? Someone else said the same though. You're probably right. Edit: Damn, you're right. It just looks very similar. Fixed it.
Vaseline filter strikes again! Now with vasenile on textures!
Vaseline filter strikes again! Now with vasenile on textures!
NOW THE WORLD IS VASENILE!
Vaseline filter strikes again! Now with vasenile on textures!
God bless fxaa
It keeps happening!

Oops.
Comparing a direct feed screenshot with a horribly compressed snapshot from a youtube video ? Even then with these downgrades, the faces look more natural, believable and animate miles better than the oversharpened, unnatural looking faces from Crysis. Shame about the downgrades though. Visuals are pretty much the only thing that Quantic Dreams have got going towards them, considering how shit their writing is.
I think its acceptable if the game runs at a good framerate. If it still runs like ass then I'll just be sad.
What's the source for the 2018 video? Sometimes it feels like the bitrate on the 2018 video is just a lot lower so it ends up mushing/blurring a lot of the face textures fine details when up close, but that's just what it seemed like to me.
