I didn't really like this cup. The final felt very amateurish, with both sides conceding very dumb and unneccessary goals. If these two teams are the best the world has to offer right now, then women's football still has a long way to go.

The women play for the love of the sport more than the love of multi million dollar contracts and sponsorships.
I can't wait for the tasteless Hiroshima Tweets by Americans. /s
we've already taken down fifa, now we have the women's world cup, all we need is the mens and we can rename it soccer
We all know who the real winner is...

[editline]6th July 2015[/editline] Pearl Harbor is trending on Twitter. Hiroshima and Nagasaki seems pretty popular too. That sounds awfully familiar.
retards blow a gasket if one so much as mentions 9/11 but find it perfectly ok to mock the deadliest conflict in human history
We all know who the real winner is...
That would make a great mascot.
Full highlights are up. The goal at :35 is the goal of the tournament by far.
Woooh, we came third!
Fuck I forgot about this game, I was gonna watch it... Last world cup was also USA vs Japan, but USA lost on penalties. It was really exciting
3 world cups? Blimey. Is there a particular reason why women's football seems so big in the US compared to elsewhere?
3 world cups? Blimey. Is there a particular reason why women's football seems so big in the US compared to elsewhere?
it isn't i literally saw twitter go from "about to get off work!" to "WE WON!!! #IBELIEVETHATWEWILLWIN" in the span of 10 seconds, "soccer fans" crawled out of the woodworks. people care about the women's world cup about as much as people care about the WNBA. if they win something, hurray USA, otherwise nobody watches it.
Woooh, we came third!
Which makes this years England's Women's Team the second most successful World Cup side in English Football History since '66. And just imagine if that own goal hadn't gone in! Why we'd be... Probably in the same position but a man can dream!
I kind of enjoy women's soccer more because there doesn't seem to be that same sense of self entitlement and the same amount of diving and stuff. The women play for the love of the sport more than the love of multi million dollar contracts and sponsorships.
I tuned in from time to time this world cup and I noticed significantly less flopping than what I see in men's games. Like they would yell and try to get penalties called if they thought the refs didn't notice, but they usually got right back up rather than laying on the ground like every bone in their body exploded from a light push to the shoulder.
3 world cups? Blimey. Is there a particular reason why women's football seems so big in the US compared to elsewhere?
The main reason I suspect is that The US is a large first world nation where the sports our women athletes get to choose from are slim. Soccer is usually the best choice for them monetarily and popularity wise (no one watches women's basketball and women's football is really only in the form of that lingerie football league that only super horny 12 year olds watch.) I suspect the US men would be better at soccer if they did not already have other high paying sports seeing how large our population is and that the levels of nutrition and facilities we have are first world.
Didn't even know this was going on. I'm (sort of) surprised I never saw anything world cup related or heard it brought up in conversation.
